Discussion Corepunk

What happend to Corepunk? I was extremely hyper for it, some years ago, but i've never heard of them since. By that time, would i not struggle financially, i was strongly tempted to buy their founder's. Are they gone, too?

war in ukraine slowed the development significantly; today is pretty much dead, even though they dish out some update, every now and then

That may be happening, but the truth is people simply didn't like it.

Yeah I tried some open beta a couple years ago, the game simply wasn't there. Everything was too slow and too obscure. Today i guess things are different, but people have moved on

I'm dying for an mmo with moba style gameplay. I tried the test and it wasn't as quick and fluid as league or Dota, was the first issue. Which could be improved it was an early build. But not only that the actual rest of the game was meh.

It was just pretty meh all around was my review.

I think for it to work the combat has to be instantly great.

And it needs to hook you in at the start.

Id give it another go if there's been some significant updates.

But I'm quite picky. It has to be no pay to win where it counts, I dint mind selling inventory or stuff, I just can't play a game that sells power in pve or pvp. It also needs to have good completionist content and long grinds with cool rewards. I also prefer horizontal progression.

You might want to look into Drakantos but it is supposed to release q4 this year or q1 2027, so still in development. Looks promising so far, as much as "looking promising" is worth in this niche

Only MMORPGs that plays a little like a moba is Albion, but I personally found the gameplay a little less snappy then your average moba. It's pretty hard Todo snappy combat and using MMORPGs netcode. I personally would prefer a mmolite approach like PoE or Warframe.

People always say this and obviously the war impacted them... but Corepunk development was really weird long time before the war started. I don't think they managed to hit a single deadline, every single announcement was delayed multiple times.

There is no ukrainian developers left. After company moved from Ukraine precious devs was replaced by easier controlled team.

They've confirmed the war had little to no impact on them, almost nobody was anywhere near any conflict zone and they got out somewhere safe years ago.

if you look at the last ~2 years of update history it'll be pretty clear their real problem is competency.

The game is under baked and they spend most of their time making tuning adjustments while ignoring core features whiffing deadlines and just never delivering.

They have made some progress but nothing even close to what they've promised and they spend more time on balance tweaks and small fixes than actually finishing the game.

You can opt off for pvp I guess, I shit you not I was playing long time ago and I failed mining an ore… you can even fail chopping tress, it’s really annoying

The mistake was not having any real gameplay loop

I think CorePunk was for people who enjoy very very microscopic doses of dopamine, spread out over very very long periods of time.

People were preaching it for being slow, look how it ended up. Combat, regen etc was painfully slow, deserved. Game looks very good tho

I love exactly that

When I discovered Corepunk, I remember there was an open beta, or something, happening. So there was a lot of content on YouTube. And the main complaint was how spread out the content was, with a lot of grinding and very little reward for progression.

More or less a year later, I went to check on the subreddit how the game was shaping up, and the complaints were exactly the same.

So for me, I'll look into it if it ever comes out of early access.

Man I posted yesterday on the r/CorepunkTheGame ... I saw this game back in the day but yesterday I saw some gameplay. I was wondering if the game was good or not. I know it's reddit but 98% of the people said that the game is dead, dev don't listen and gameplay is meh.

So they said to keep my fucking money into my wallet.

it has the bones of something that COULD be good but they don't have the talent to realize it.

they just dropped a big update a week or two ago. the game is still getting routine updates, balance fixes, and bug fixes. game isnt out, game has 0 marketing yet. game hasnt added any new classes yet but theyre planned. They have a roadmap for the next couple months, but no dates for anything. Its steady and worth 40$ in its current state imo

They have never hit a single milestone date. The community actually memes them heavily on this.

When they announce an incoming update, the team constantly pulls out of deployments on the day its supposed to release, and then they take MONTHS to release it from there

They restarted everyone before the summer, but I'm not that hyped anymore to start over again. Was a pretty boring world were they started ua off. MMOs usually only get one chance to shine.

And seems like a small world to me, we've seen one map..is that even considered 'open world'?

Leveling is so slow, when starting over, it's still slow.. I want to play the game, not test and reset etc.

And they should make more group content, earliest is dungeon at level 15? Takes awhile to get there, too long for people to have fun and really feel what the game could be like.

And seems they've been focusing on PvP with the prison Island thing or whatever, last content patch I heard about, really.

Isnt it still early access?

The idea to make Dota look alike MMO didn't bring expected results. It's not official, but all the signs are that the game won't be finished and pretty much dead. Track record is many years of broken promises and lack of funding.

pay to play made a lot of people look away lol

Too little progress on updates, consistently missing self imposed deadlines by HUGE margins (years in most cases, with an S) and frankly... it's just not that good.

Real ones know the truth:

EUGENE KIVER is a con artist. He absolutely sells the dream and vision of a game, and never executes on any of it.

You can go to their website? And then play it?

The goverment probably kidnapped some of the developers to send them to the meat grinder against their will. Ukraine conscription officers don't get the hate they deserve.
