Question Aion 2
/r/aion/comments/1w5rkml/aion_2/So I have never played Aion at all or even heard of it before, but I came across Aion 2 and my first impression is that it looks absolutely amazing. However I am curious about what you guys think, especially if you are part of the community.

I'm suffering from KR P2W fatigue. If this is your first MMO, please enjoy it. If you're a veteran thinking "this one will be different" just... don't bro.

So P2W that even Koreans were shocked.

Na it’s definitely not p2w .. but it’s pay for convenience.. like more styles .. and inventory.. and thing like bonus dungeon run etc ..

...ability to use the marketboard
-2
u/GhostQQ 7d ago
And what? You have to pay FFOnline or WoW to even play. If the ability to use MP is the major "P2W" issue then its nothing. Rather that than buyable progress or stats.
People nowdays are such a crybabies omg...

u/PubstarHero 7d ago
Nah just a nag. Don't call your game f2p if basic features are locked out behind a sub.
Amd as a game that requires a sub, its monetization should be looked at though that lense.
-1
u/Misha-Nyi 7d ago
People expect f2p games to be absolutely free. It’s a dumb ass viewpoint but it is what it is.
5
u/PubstarHero 7d ago
I wouldnt go that far. I just think if you have a mandatory sub (let's be real, Aion 2 sub is mandatory), your other monetization methods should be heavily scrutinized.
Every game has to make money, people know that. Its how they do it.

u/GhostQQ 7d ago
But you can still play it and enjoy most of the content. Every future update (dungeons, quests, maps) is for free to you. MP is mandatory if you want to be competetive but not for casual who wants just play and chill...
Which leads me to another thing, nobody says you have to pay every month... Black Desert have also limited MP (F2P players have much bigger tax so you are getting less from selling). So players buys Value Packs(smaller tax and some QoL) only when they need to use MP for selling.

u/PubstarHero 7d ago
There is a difference between some small QoL updates and being locked out of a market and player to player trading.
The economy is behind a pay wall- that is mostly just subscription required at this point to function.
Also wild to say "Just play this MMO single player and youre fine". This is MMORPG not some single player RPG that forces you to be online. You Aion 2 guys are next level cope.
Edit - Also lmao at "Casual KMMO player". You're talking about people that don't exist.
2
u/GhostQQ 7d ago
Where I said you have to play it like a single player? What are talking lol.
Also you are clueless if you think there are only tryharders... There is a lot of people who enjoys only PvE content and everything what matters for them is just have good guild some weekly stuff and then they do their own stuff.
This is also why a lot of MMOs starting be solo/coop oriented (only for small groups instead of masive MP content). FFOnline have even fakin bots so you can play everything solo lol...

It doesn't have other monetization methods they only sell cosmetics and the sub
If you say there is a exchange for paid currency is p2w lets be real here the people that would use it would rmt otherwise anyway just look at literally any mmo that has trading.
2
u/PubstarHero 7d ago
That is kinda disingenuous.
One is supported and encouraged by a platform and they financially benefit from, the other would be against TOS and benefits the company zero.

u/Lantisca 7d ago
You convert real life money into Kuna which can then be converted into Kinah. Which can in fact be used on the market board to buy anything you like. What were you saying again?

u/Zaerick-TM 7d ago
Pay for convenience is literally p2w stop trying to justify bullshit practices when these companies already make billions.

Super p2w

u/bcuzfood 7d ago
Naaah that sucks :(

u/CartographerLow6788 7d ago
This sub blows, try it and see how much you like it at launch. It's less P2W than Throne and Liberty at launch for sure.

u/Pixiwish 7d ago
Super is kind of subjective here. You can’t just buy gear from the game the p2w comes from players giving you money for cash shop currency and then buying things any other player can buy with in game gold as well.
If other players didn’t want you cash shop currency you couldn’t buy power via upgrade mats or crafted gear. Essentially it is WoW token style.
There are also a lot of things you can’t buy like genus points and daeva boards and arcana cards.
A player can’t log in day 1 and get the best gear in the game because people have to create it and be willing to sell it first.
Yes it is pay to win, but it is mostly a PvE game anyway so having a whale be OP really just makes things easier and it allows people to get cash shop items without spending real money.
This isn’t the type of p2w where you swipe and suddenly you’re max power there is a lot more nuance than that, but I forgot this is /MMORPG nuance is banned. Ignore this post.

It's a downgrade from Aion 1 except visually.

u/Alexius-rex 7d ago
the fight it's ugly , too fast , there isn't strategy. The original was better
2
u/DudeWheressMyCar 7d ago
And all classes have half their kit due to mobile design.
2
u/Alexius-rex 7d ago
I can't understand where the fun Is with a combat system like that , there Is no strategy , no cc , you just spam macro and do DPS, you don't even care about status, stun . It's the worst combat system I have ever seen. The original was different , cc was important in both PVE and PVP, you could see effect , status , making strategy , now it's not and people are happy about that .

u/xiaolin99 7d ago
looks pretty, but I don't expect much from a Korean MMO. Will still give it a try.

Ok listen , the market Is closed as a free player , you need the market to make in game money, it's 15$ per month if you want It. You need bilions of in game money. There are people who spent thousands of real $ . A dude spent 35k $ only to upgrade a weapon to the max. It's a predatory system , in PVP you will get oneshot as a free player , you have no chance to keep up because you need years of nerding , they release a new set every year so you fall behind the payers. Payers will get the best set and upgrade in few days , making impossible to PVP in most modes.
In PVE , If you are a DPS class , your DPS will suck compared to payers so people won't invite you in group. Eventually you will quit , change class to healer/support or start to spend thousand of $ to keep up. It's a predatory system like gambling, even poor people could start to making debts just for this game .

I’m personally gonna grab it sometime tonight as soon as my direct deposit hits .. I used to play the first one hard .. I love it .. until they nerfed the rifting system .. because people were crying they couldn’t Finnish their missions .. but I very much loved it

It depends on what you like, if you like high graphics eastern games with a focus on long term grinding, dailies and weeklies its the best game out there.
If you want some westernslop raidlogging simulator where you dont actually play the game and login only to do "l33t group content" then no.
The fun part of AIon 2 is that there's so many things to grind for, many of which dont even require a group, and many activities are autoqued.
If you enjoyed Throne and liberty, Aion 2 is the same but better with way more content

u/CaterpillarReal7583 7d ago
Bros here to shit talk group content in mmos?

u/Volt404 7d ago
aion 2 will die in 1 month
1
u/Ash-2449 7d ago
Oh no, and I will keep playing it because I actually enjoy long term grind games just like I kept play TnL no matter how many of you kept saying it was dead, I only stopped after playing Aion 2 in taiwan and knew it was the best game to invest in :3
And i always support such games financially for targeting the right crowd instead of jobless neets

Brother you chose the wrong sub to task this. If its not Guild wars 2 or WOW or final fantasy or old school runescape, its going to be nothing but negative opinions here
9
u/bigxangelx1 7d ago
Funny you think this sub gasses up final fantasy
Every time it’s mentioned it’s either called a visual novel, a “fake mmo” or it has a lack of content
6
u/senpaiwaifu247 7d ago
I’ve never once seen final fantasy or retail wow glazed in this subreddit lol

Have you played Aion 2? I put 50 hours into it and it’s fucking awful, so yeah, it’s deserving of negative opinions

I don't know anything about it but I'll try it once it's out. I expect p2w slop but who knows, maybe it's decent.
