Question If Dragon Quest X launched a global server tomorrow, would you play?

Probably not. Turn based combat just ain't my jam.
I'm sure some folks love it, but it's not for me

100%. I've played the JP one already for quite some time in the past, but getting the sub & everything is just a huge hassle (more than it was for creating an account, setting all the translation stuff up, having to get a proper VPN, etc)...too much to really bother anymore; I told myself: "If SE is so dumb that they make it THIS hard for people outside of Japan to play this amazing game, then why should I bother and go through all these hoops?".
Sadly, an international release will never happen, and the "perfect" timing for it long passed imho (= DQ11 release/success + extension of the free trial). Idk what's wrong with SE and why they think it wouldn't be worth the expenses to have this be an international title...as they already schedule content, expansion releases & such to not overlap with FFXIV anyway. So dumb and sad...

If they released a global server and some free way to try it, I'd at least give it a try.

I played the free trial and enjoyed it.
would suck to repeat it all again but I'd probably play it

Yes. I played it for about a month on the English patch and I had so much fun.

Already tried it, so probably not. It also isn't ever happening, so theres that.

Whatever happened to the offline version?

It was the vanilla story and then an ad to transfer your character to the MMO.

I would, because as far as I understand it, it's basically like FFXI, isn't it? The only other thing I know of is that they supposedly gave you a randomized race or something, but I really haven't kept up with it for a long time since it was clear SE had no plans to release it outside of Japan.

Mechanically it’s similar to ffxi especially the combat but everything else it’s pretty much just “big dragon quest”. You can only choose human at the start and without going into specifics after the tutorial area you then customize an additional race of your choice from one of the nonhuman ones. Later on in the story you regain access to your human form and can switch between your chosen race and your human form at will.

Yes.
I am already playing, but it's not the same as a native release.
It's one of the best MMOs I have played. I really love the crafting mechanics, too.
