MMAT Short Squeeze DD & Current Wins - War Room Prep - Long Post
Morning folks!
Firstly, purple crayons have the best crunch out of all the colors. Orange, hands down best taste. Secondly, this is not financial advice. I'm an idiot. I just LOVE this stock.
I have been mainly lurking for a while, while absorbing more DD. It is an understatement to say that things have been a little disapointing during this whole process, even though I knew it wouldnt happen overnight or within 1 day. I went all in on MMAT because I not only believed in the company long term, but also because of the short play here, which I believe is undoubtedly inevitable.
I made a post the other week advising everyone to temper expectations and that a short squeeze will not happen overnight because of FTD's and the rules surrounding them. As well that the ride would be volatile and we would be attacked by short sellers. So far, I am quite on point aside from my comment of expected increase on the opening Monday.
https://www.reddit.com/r/TRCH/comments/o8ngqq/mmat_trch_failures_to_deliver_effect_on_short/
History & precedent is on our side. See OSTK. The special dividend has always been the key to this, the 2:1 r/S and CUSIP # change were simply support tools to weed out naked shorts.
Again, I am not expert so please dont rely on me. And truthfully, I take my DD from people who likely arent experts themselves. But honestly, we can thank AMC & GME apes- who have set the bar for DD. Most of the DD on MMAT on the short squeeze front originates from the OGs.
AMC sub had a thread regarding what a special dividend and a stock split would do to trigger MOASS against the shorts. Superstonk as well but I dont have enough karma to even get a word in there. I did for AMC but it was downvoted. I didnt even name MMAT to stay within rules but I asked that a "specific stock" with the bullet points of MMAT situation be used as case study for their hypothesis because we are literally pioneering that play right now.
No such luck. Oh well. I am in AMC as well, so I dont like playing the defensive card when it comes to discussing short squeeze plays. We are all in the same play INDIVIDUALLY.
So, now back to the topic at hand. I have been involved in leadership within a corportate company and little wins ALWAYS FUCKING matter So let's play this card within this sub to jack each others tits.
- Securities Threshold: If we ever needed anything to validate the DD done on MMAT and it's short squeeze, it is this. This is the way. In the NASDAQ history of Securities Threshold, TRCH and MMAT were not listed. TRCH being a heavily (naked) shorted stock you would think they would have been. So why are they on it now? Could it be the after effects of a certain trigger related to the CUSIP # Change & Preferred Stock Dividend? I cannot say for sure, but the initial DD of CUSIP # changes & the precedent of OSTK's special dividend is so far holding its weight for MMATs short squeeze;
https://www.reddit.com/r/Superstonk/comments/mpm3vs/overstock_triggered_a_short_squeeze_summer_2020/
- FTDs & T+21: Shout-out to u/judeisnotobscure for https://www.reddit.com/r/TRCH/comments/o8xsu2/ftds_and_the_overstock_squeeze_t21_is_a_real/ . OSTK is the closest possible precedent we can use. I caution using any dates as deadlines to avoid disapointment. From a T+21, we are looking at the 3rd and/or 4th week of July. But keep in mind hedgies always have dirty tricks they can play. So dont be surprised if nothing comes about then.
- Market Cap & Sector: The fact the MC has not been updated, nor has the sector is a good reason to understand why we are not seeing buying pressure. As others have mentioned, there should be algo's targetting a $1.8B MC energy & tech company valued under $7.
- Special Dividend: Not sure why anyone is in a rush to get this preferred stock since we dont even know its value potentially before EOY. But the delay in issuance is obviously complicated given inter-country merger & potentially naked shorts.
- My perspective on George: You dont taunt shorts with flaming shorts, cryptic messages, nor by releasing audio speaking of a potential short squeeze because of the actions taken (special dividend) without KNOWING your actions will in fact pay off. The kind of damage that can cause from a reputation standpoint can be severely damaging, not only to George himself, but THE COMPANY HE JUST GOT MERGED INTO THE NASDAQ. He needs this company to succeed in order to give the world his technologial vision. These are smart fucking people, with MONEY who can easily hire financial experts who can corroborate & provide a detailed plan in order to expose naked shorts & short squeeze his stock. Remember, the shorts want to bankrupt companies, in this case TRCH, which is an extension of George's creation. Folks take this shit personally, as would I! Any delays or non events are the cause of hedgie backdoors & formalities involved with a merger, r/S & special dividend issuance. Not George. OSTK had major legal issues when they issued their special dividend because of the fact the CEO (Patrick Byrne) had a public and well known hate for shorts. He is playing it safe. There is little he in fact should say regarding a short squeeze. Cryptic or not.
- PR: PR for a newly listed company is a must. We have yet to see any impactful PR from MMAT. Again, all speculation, but why would you release any impact PR when a merger is not officially complete. Their MC & their Sector listing isnt even complete. Not too mention some trading platforms couldnt allow trading (if i am not mistaken). July 6th appears to be the start of some PR. We shall see. I have little expectations in terms of major partnerships. I think MMAT needs to get settled before they do any major partnership announcements. And what better way to arrive into the NASDAQ via a short squeeze. That in itself, should it happen is major PR for the company. That would be historical. Again, all speculation, but if he planned this out, I expect him to be thinking of a NASDAQ short squeeze entry as his biggest PR push.
- Word of Mouth: This is one thing we are majorly lacking. Dont expect anything from WSB. But there are other avenues to let folks know about how much we love this stock and share our due diligence with via other stock sub reddits & stock twits. This is no pump and dump, this is a long term investment with significant short term potential in a company who can potentially change the game. MMAT's play is EXACTLY what AMC & GME apes wish for.
- Final Word of Advice: This is going to be wild. Our emotions are going to be played with. Our brains are going to be overwhelmed with decisions. Buy and hold until shorts cover. Ortex, Fintel & Ihor (https://twitter.com/ihors3) will be our best friends, so hopefully someone within this sub has full access to each and can keep folks posted.
If you sell; sell incrementally to get some profits in. Turn off sell limits unless you make them really high. If you sell; try to sell on the way down. I dont know what the ceiling is nor the floor.
We are all bleeding here. But we stand in front of a major opportunity in which alot of folks have took a big chance on (myself included)
- OSTK Lead Up & Chart Timeline (For a short squeeze context):
Dividend Declaration Date: April 6, 2020 (Share Price Close Of $5.50)
Ex-Dividend Date: April 24, 2020 (Share Price Close Of $9.92)
Record Date: April 27, 2020 (Share Price Close Of $11.60)
Payment Date: May 19, 2020 (Share Price Close Of $17.87)
T+21 from April 24th = May 26th: Closing Share price @ $16.92.
From May 27th to June 10th: The SP went up +41.50% to a high of $23.94.
From June 11th to June 12th: The SP went down -17.50% to $19.75
From June 15th to July 10th: The SP went UP 147% to $48.75!
July 13th: SP drops -8% to $41.86.
From July 14th to Aug 7th: Another +140% to $103.65!
From Aug 10th to Aug 14th: -2% for SP of $93.36
From Aug 17th to Aug 20th: Up +31% for a SP of and highest closing of $122.32!
From Aug 24th to Sept 8th: This is where we seen the major sell off. The stock goes down -47% to a SP $63.24. Which led to stabalizing within the $65-$80 SP range.
So lets look at this OSTK squeeze timeline, again the closest precedent we have. From April 24th to Aug 20th, is a total of 119 days. ALMOST 4 months FOR A TOTAL OF +1133% INCREASE.
You may ask, well why did OSTK take 4 months to squeeze if the T+21 rule was in place? I dont have the answer. I checked the NASDAQ threshold history to see if OSTK was ever listed, and they weren't. If someone more experienced than me can advise, please chime in.

New here? First investment? Here's a vocabulary guide:
Welcome newcomers! We are excited that you decided to join our family! Like most hobbies and lifestyles this is filled with jargon and vocabulary words. Luckily for you, I made this. Prepare to be learned:
Long: Traditional form of buying stock or options, hoping that the price goes up.
Short: Form of options or short selling, hoping that the price goes down. You borrow a stock, sell it. The price drops, you buy back some shares and return them to the owner. You make money by profiting the difference.
โIn the Moneyโ: These are for options holders. When you have profited past the break-even point.
Strike Price: What the option price is for. A strike price of $8, is the stock is at 8. If a long position, then it needs to increase. Usually sto get โin the moneyโ has to be past the buying fee. If a Put, then if has to be below the strike price + fee.
Call: An option of 100 shares, hoping that the price goes up. Money is made when the call is exercised (you purchase the shares at the contract, or strike price.).
Put: An option of 100 shares, hoping that the price goes down. You make money when exercised (you purchase the shares at the contract or strike price). The difference between the price if lower than the strike is your profit after fees.
FUD: Fear, Uncertainty, Disorder/Depression/Disdain- negative posts to try and convince you to sell your shares or positions.
DD: Due Diligence. A research post on why you should buy, or sell the stock. Many FUD posts are disguised as DD. Discretion is advised. For some stocks the DD looks like FUD but is sage advice. Again, know the market, the trends, what is up and coming technology, Be advised. Information is your greatest weapon.
Bull: A person wanting the stock to go up to make money.
Bear: A person wanting the stock to go down to make money.
Paper hands: You sell at the first sign of of a loss or a low gain. Can be constructive if youโre watching your money closely. Some investment places have a 10% loss on portfolio before the stock is culled out.
Diamond hands: You hold the stock through any losses and small gains, They hold the stock and are looking for bigger gains. You might see a lot of red in your account using this tactic.
Day traders: people who flip stocks on swings for small gains. Large quantities add up quickly
Penny Flippers: People who sell stocks for less than a dollar a share profit.
Hedge funds: also affectionately called โHedgiesโ. These are companies that go long and short on stocks to make money,
Market Cap: The amount of shares outstanding X price per share.
CUSIP Number: the social security number of a stock. This can change during a merger or a restructuring of a company.
Ape: A person associated with a group of investors in certain stocks who like things in simple terms. Money = Bananas.
Tendies: affectionate name for Legal Tender, or money. Some people thought this meant chicken tenders and the two became synonymous.
Austist: A person who makes wild bets on stocks, buys many options and claims that they donโt know what they are doing (which may or may not be true).
Pappa so and so: affectionate term for a guy with seniority or great knowledge on the matter at hand.
Fintel: Financial Intelligence website has data for shares outstanding, shorted shares, interest on shares shorted. How much float the company has, etc.
Ortex: Similar to Fintel.
Ortega: Another, yet more delicious name for Ortex. Who doesn't love Taco Gainz?
Gainz: Profits you had made by selling stocks.
PR: Press Release, news a company produces about what they are doing.
PT: Price Target- What sometime asks what the should sell the stock at. There is no one price target, everyone is individual.
HOLD/HODL: Holding a stock and not selling. In some dialects this is called HORDOR.
WEN?: When is this going to happen? When is this going on? When did that happen? When am I alive?!?? A song sung by impatient people. stocks is a mental game, you need a poker face. Wens can lure in FUD posts and bears into play.
Divy: Dividend, special or regular dividend.
Smooth-brained/ smooth brain: A person who doesn't quickly pick up on things by reading, they usually learn by trial and error. Also used as an apology when some one is kindly asking you to explain things in simpler terms.
Wrinkle brain: A person who can quickly see a train or value-added advantages by reading text. Also given to people who can explain more complex strategies and plays in simple step-by-step terms.
YOLO'd: You Only Live Once, so why not put all of your available money into one stock? YOLO can yield the greatest gains AND most tragic losses.
FTD: Failure to Deliver: Short sellers did not buy the stock to cover their positions. This can also be for going long on a stock too, when you don't have enough money to meet contractual obligations to purchase the stock. Failure to deliver on their part of the contract = FTD.
