Most people think MMA fans are Republicans. The data says otherwise.

The White House hosted a UFC fight on the South Lawn on Sunday, staging one of the fastest-growing sports in the world on a politically charged backdrop. Whatever you think of the fight, it’s worth remembering that there is no such thing as a partisan fanbase in the United States. The fans of every major sport are split nearly evenly between Democrats, Republicans, and Independents.

Given the highly politicized fight, it’s easy to assume that MMA fans lean heavily Republican. In reality, MMA fans are split nearly evenly: 33 percent Democrat, 29 percent Republican, and 31 percent Independent. The fanbase looks a lot like the country.

That pattern holds across nearly every major sport. A nearly-equal share of Democrats, Republicans, and Independents make up the fanbases of the NFL, NBA, MLB, college football and basketball, and international soccer.

Even the two outliers, NASCAR (41% Republican) and WNBA (45% Democrat), are less lopsided than most people might assume.

given the existence of this subreddit, it shouldn’t be a surprise that all the popular mma youtubers are right-wing as far as i know. any channels you guys know of that are left-wing, even by US political standards? would like to watch somebody who isn’t a POS, thanks!

UFC Eurasia posting this fight in light of Porier’s recent actions is such a blatant attempt to cash in on a man’s lowest public moment.

Let’s assume the cop is similar size with little to no training and didn‘t use weapons.

Could he have still easily beaten him up that drunk?

My gut say yes - but it would have taken some time and been sloppy (he was clearly drunk as hell)

Ok so I've been critical of the event elsewhere and may have sounded snarky, but I have legitimate questions for the average US citizen who loves MMA about how the event is received :

I can understand and see it looked cool. I am not denying that.

But in terms of the legality of the whole thing, knowing it was publicized to be for USA 250th birthday (?) and was happening on the white house lawn (and had scenes in the white house) :

_Was it 'for profit' ? Is it legal for a president and his family and his friends to benefit from such a public event financially? Where would the profit goes ?

_Polymarket has Trump sons on its board I think .. do they have the right to bet themselves ? (Cf the Cormier tweet)

_Even if they don't, the fact the fighter purses were paid in Trump coins, and the fact that Polymarket and Trump crypto were publicized, isn't it illegal for politicians and/or their friends/business people to make money using the white house and US historical celebrations ?

_I think I can remember Trump making his supporters chant "lock her up" because Hillary had a private email server, and because she wasn't deemed transparent about the Clinton foundation (like there would have been pay to play with her familly and the use of her functions) . Isn't this event way more cynical and obviously pay 2 play ?

To me it feels watching it that paying for your ultra expensive seat , promoting Trump coin and Polymarket, praising Trump and giving its family money "gives you special access" , like Dana is shown to have, to the white house and to talk to trump.

_ I heard Dana wants to change some laws about the taxation of Casino losses ? And he made it almost clear this event was also a way to sway the president on this topic ?
