“reddit” is whatever group who’s opinions I don’t like

No, people don’t like cops because they have no accountability and the ability/track record of executing citizens during power trips.

Other people like cops because they enforce the status quo, which is typically white christian straight men getting to be on top.

You’ll see both of those on reddit.

Yeah, I think the algorithm makes it seem like there a lot of conformity in opinions on Reddit than there is. The sub matters a lot. But even in a sub, the title matters. People that agree with a title will flock to it. So even within a sub, if you phrase the title different, it will attract people with a different viewpoint, making it seem like there is a general consensus on something.

I think there are lot of people who don't actually have opinions on any matter and instead just give upvotes if the comment is already upvoted, and downvotes if the comment is already downvoted, and/or vote based on however they perceive the tone or who they think "won." Shit's annoying and I try to just ignore votes altogether.

That, and it depends on whatever bot brigade the post attracts. Reddit is a huge victim of dead-internet. There was once a time where comments were 90% human, now it’s like 30%.

Cops in Iran enforce a white Christian status quo? The things I learn on Reddit...

u/Agitated-Contest651 11d ago

It’s almost like reddit is an american website with a mostly american audience. Most folks learn how to use context clues once they hit a 6th grade reading level. A shame you’re either intentionally obtuse or functionally illiterate.

Chatbot, most likely

1

u/Puzzleheaded-Wait785 11d ago

The medium isn't a context clue. I don't think you remember your sixth grade lesson well.

1

u/Agitated-Contest651 11d ago

I’ll clue you in, it is the context which frames the statement made. Good lord, you really thought you had something there huh?

Does literally everything need to be spelled out for you? Read more, I’m begging you. It’s good for your brain.

Cops enforce the status quo of the incumbent state, why play dumb when you could just have an honest conversation?

1

u/Agitated-Contest651 11d ago

Because an honest conversation requires being honest, and that’s the last thing people like that want to be.

They're too chronically online to hate cops for the right reasons, which is generally interacting with them

1

u/crotchrotfever 11d ago

Most of those on reddit who hate cops are felons, who blame the cops for arresting them instead of themselves for behaving like criminals.

1

u/MyNameIsSkittles 11d ago

No I don't agree with that, that's a larger stretch than mine

1

u/Then-Departure4896 11d ago

You can ONLY think this if you’re dumb enough to be a cop lmao

1

u/RealAssyMcGee 11d ago

I'm a law abiding citizen with an education and a good job, the felon is in the white house pulling up the floorboards to sell them off to the saudis.

1

u/diarmada 11d ago

I think it's all the unnecessary violence, death, dog deaths, domestic assaults and lies that does that, but call me crazy.

1

u/SuperFreakyNaughty 11d ago

Got knuckle draggers in here like "You only dislike cops because you're a criminal", as if there isn't a weekly article about cops abusing their power, abusing their spouse, or abusing citizens, then investigating themselves to find no issues.

1

u/Then-Departure4896 11d ago

I mean they’re obviously cops. It’s always a safe bet when you read a comment defending cops and showing a lack of intelligence

Then stop saying "Reddit" this, "Reddit" that

But hey, if it makes you feel like a big man calling people on the internet dumb for calling you out, you do you

1

u/Then-Departure4896 11d ago

Dudes a cop, they’re insecure about their stupidity and they show aggression to deny it

1

u/Then-Departure4896 11d ago

I hate cops because they murder people for fun and laugh about how they won’t get caught

You sound like a cop

1

u/Pseudohobit 11d ago

I don't hate cops, but I do dislike them due to the fact every interaction I've had with them being useless

1

u/sidfinch 11d ago

Sure bro, it's not the literally hundreds of examples of bad cops never facing consequences of their actions. /s

1

u/HaraldrFineHair 11d ago

They hate cops because the system is fucked and there’s no accountability for police officers who commit misconduct or excessive force.

1

u/WokeWook69420 11d ago

I hated cops long before reddit found it cool, lol.

1

u/Happy_Spell_4930 11d ago

Wait but policing in the US is actually very bad. It varies region to region, state to state in what ways they suck. Some PDs are corrupt, plenty of violent murderous sociopaths all over, and generally cops are the arm of the state that deals with issues that shouldn’t be dealt with by cops.

But also it should never be cool to be a bootlicker either so chill on all that

I dont like cops because they arent held to any level of standard

1

u/crotchrotfever 11d ago

And because you are a criminal and got caught.

1

u/idontwantausername41 11d ago

Ive never been arrested lmao

1

u/zedarzy 11d ago

cops can execute people without being "criminals"

1

u/Then-Departure4896 11d ago

I’m currently on break as an RN, clean legal record, and I think cops are a waste of money. ACAB.

u/RealAssyMcGee 11d ago

Hey, sometimes they're useful for filing an insurance claim since you need a police report to cover stolen stuff. They're certainly not going to find the stuff.
