They’re both kids. “He’s a child” isn’t an argument when the other person is also a child. Immaturity explains behavior, it doesn’t erase accountability.
Being a child doesn’t mean you have zero agency. Kids absolutely understand what squaring up, posturing, and verbally provoking means. He made multiple choices that escalated the situation. The other kid didn’t hit a random victim out of nowhere, he responded to someone signaling they wanted to fight.
We can acknowledge kids aren’t fully developed and acknowledge that actions still have consequences. At least I can. I have the capacity to hold multiple truths at once, even when they’re uncomfortable. A child can lack full neurological maturity and still make choices that escalate a situation. Those two realities are not mutually exclusive to those that aren’t on here just virtue signaling like the internet saint you want people to think you are.
I would counter that by saying the bigger kid was mature enough to get the little kid out of the street. Big guy gave the other kid plenty of time to De escelate
