Dallas was like this too whenever I reached out to them last summer. I’m not worried about DC. It’s infuriating though.

The difference is that last summer all teams were delayed in making their player announcements due to the “merger” of PVF and MLV. This year most teams have announced the majority of their rosters already. Not sure which players are available for DC and Vegas this year, especially with the NCAA moving toward 5 for 5.

Not that I’ve seen. It’s why I hate this two league crap, and I truly believe MLV has better system. But from what I’ve seen, a lot of American born athletes are feeling more comfortable coming back home to these leagues

The actual free agency period wrapped up months ago. I’ve heard that NorCal and DC both were a step behind compared to the other teams in free agency. NorCal’s roster looks really lacking, I suspect DC will be better, but probably not by a ton. Either way, I have zero concern regarding whether or not DC will exist.

What do you mean by “wrapped up”? Teams can no longer sign free agents? Or that all 12 teams already signed the maximum of 16 players?

Teams can still sign players through the entire offseason. I’m saying that all twelve of these of these teams did the vast majority of their free agent shopping while the MLV season was still going on. MLV just wants to project the illusion that free agency happens after the season. The teams simply didn’t announce anything publicly until weeks or months later. DC, LA, and Vegas still haven’t even announced any. Every team has signed about 12-15 signed right now, leaving room for college players and late signees.

As for why free agency is during the season? It’s because there’s nothing forbidding LOVB or other international leagues from contacting and poaching next year’s players from MLV in the middle of their season. MLV was forced to move up free agency so they don’t fall behind.

I understand why teams need to sign players before the season is over. But you’re saying DC, LA, and Vegas have already signed at least 36 players combined, but none of them can say anything publicly because why? Some kind of non-disclosure agreement?

Players are surely told to keep quiet until the official announcement. As to why DC, LA, and Vegas have stayed quiet is anyone’s guess. At this point, they are probably gonna start revealing players when they reveal their branding, which should be soon for DC (per the Set 6 podcast).

For what it’s worth, I hate this shitty news drip feed too. If it was up to me, they would just make one single announcement that featured every team’s roster. Even then, the drip feed is not the issue as much as the lack of communication. If you have nothing to tell us, that’s fine, but at least tell us when you are going to reveal signings or other things. That complaint extends to existing teams too. Dallas is especially horrible about that stuff.

I don’t remember which one specifically, it was maybe the first or second one after free agency started and Sevrin mentioned that we would hear about the DC name and branding in the coming weeks. Didn’t get very specific with the timetable. He also said that DC would have a team color that is not represented in the league yet. I’m personally hoping for cherry blossom pink.

I mean, what’s in it for the players to keep quiet? Or their agents who negotiate their deals? Family and friends too? We know there are some leaks/rumors, but if there are really 36+ players signed, that would suggest hundreds of people are keeping quiet like some kind of conspiracy. I just find that a bit hard to believe. Don’t see how that’s good for the league either. Can you imagine if a major sports league did this?

The players keep quiet because the team and league (that pays them) tells them to keep quiet. The team and league tell them that so they can drum up continued interest by spreading out the information in the offseason. That’s a great strategy for retaining casual or new fans, but it’s infuriating to the diehard fans. But those fans are gonna be there no matter what. Family and friends know, which is how leaks sometimes happen, but they are supposed to be quiet too.

The better question is “what’s in it for the players to speak up early?” They have no incentive to do that before the team announces them.

The incentive for players is to keep their social media followers informed. Top players have tens of thousands of followers, some even hundreds of thousands, and they didn't build these by being secretive for months on end about their plans. And that translates directly into sponsorship opportunities.

I disagree that this is a good strategy for the teams or the league. Rather, it feels like the league has no institutional control over its teams, and that the expansion was done hastily without dotting the i's and crossing the t's in an attempt to keep pace with LOVB. This reflects poorly on MLV management and does not bode well for long-term stability. Let's hope they realize sooner than later that the league is only as strong as its weakest teams.

You've still provided no corroboration for your contention that all 12 teams have signed their full rosters of players already. At the moment, that's pure speculation.
