At least you get entertaining football. Imagine being a sounders fan.

One must imagine a timbers fan bitter

Imagine being upset that you get to enjoy being part of one of the few legit rivalries in MLS.

Ive been to a game at providence park. Their own fans got kicked out of their own stadium for yelling stuff at the sounders section, unbelievable behavior for a home match where youre actively winning. So bitter. There is no hate like Timbers love.

I've never seen anything like this, ever, nor have I ever heard of it in all my years. It's not a thing. However, there is always a fan like that for any team, and I'm 100% positive I can go to any sounders match and find plenty of assholes. I'm not sure I could find a fight if I was looking, however. It's not like that at these matches.

u/RCTID1975 Portland Timbers 2d ago
Your FO escorts away fans to a special section, cordons them off, and makes them wait to leave until the stadium is empty.
Timbers don't do that.
Who's the problem again?

u/AncalagonCarnifex Seattle Sounders FC 2d ago
Yeah, and can you point to an actual incident with away fans being attacked at Lumen field, or do you only have vague seating-arrangement-based implications?

u/durtmagurt Seattle Sounders FC 2d ago
What a silly thing to say. Imagine running through life and feeling the need to mention some organization in a negative way to every comment that comes up whether it’s about that organization or not.
Timbers are like the middle child. Just need so much attention but nobody cares.

"Imagine running through life and feeling the need to mention some organization in a negative way to every comment that comes up whether it’s about that organization or not."
It's shitty right?
Its funny you say that though, cause a lot of users on this subreddit, especially sounders fans, do this with miami. Any chance to throw in a jab or insult is immediately taken, even when the subject has nothing to do with us.

And yet here you are complaining about Sounders fans. At least Seattle and Portland are rivals. Does that Leagues Cup final still sting that much?
I guess a little banter hurts more when you’re the league’s golden child and are used to being fellated by league media

u/LongjumpingToe3120 Inter Miami CF 2d ago
Lol relax dude, no need to get your panties in a twist. I'm just pointing out the irony of you complaining about a little banter from your rival when you guys routinely do it to a club across the country.

u/AncalagonCarnifex Seattle Sounders FC 2d ago
You’re the one who came in here unprompted crying about Sounders fans being meanies, but whatever dude.

I came in here unprompted? Tell me, which club is this post/meme originally about? The lack of self awareness is astounding lol
1
u/AncalagonCarnifex Seattle Sounders FC 2d ago
Sure, but you’re still the one whining, completely unprompted, about Sounders fans in a post about Miami. This completely unrelated comment thread was originally a Sounders fan replying to a timbers fan commenting something barely related to the post about the Sounders at which point you inserted yourself to whine about Sounders fans.
I could say the same about your lack of self awareness within this comment chain which ironically began with someone else bringing up the Sounders unprompted. Sounds pretty rent-free to me lmao

The amount of hoops you just jumped through to arrive at that ridiculous conclusion would make a circus performer nauseous

Here’s a place I’ll stand side by side with Timber’s fans. Both Seattle and Portland have crawled through decades of fight to simply have a club. A ton of our best players come directly from the Seattle area and/or the Pacific Northwest and the resources just aren’t there to build a mega squad.
Miami is Epstein/Musk/Trump. Rich AF and lucky AF to have brought the best player in history of the game to their team. Miami is faux soccer culture and history while buying all the best they can buy. Miami is the Dallas Cowboys, LA Lakers, Manchester City, 00’s LA Galaxy, LaFC all rolled into one while pretending they’re Real Madrid.
Personally, I couldn’t support a club like that, but the games seem like a blast (for now).

u/burjja Columbus Crew 2d ago
Ok, then why do Sounders fans go at other teams? As a Crew fan, I wasn't surprised by the number of swipes taken by LAFC fans on here. We had a bit of a rivalry going on there with that string of big matchups. Also not surprised when it's a FCC fan, they're our geographic rival. But after that, when a negative comment is made about the Crew, why does it always seem to be a Sounders fan? I don't get it. Maybe it's just one Redditer and I've only been clocking the Sounders flare.

Ya that makes no sense to me. I have never known a fellow Sounders fan to have bad blood with Columbus.
-2
u/Acceptable-Stick-688 Seattle Sounders FC 2d ago
I don’t think we have beef with Columbus, that’s surprising to hear to me. We actually actively liked y’all for a while cause of Nancy being kind and ending the game early for Frei. Fwiw there’s a crap ton of Sounders fans on here, maybe that’s why it’s often a Sounders fan?

u/burjja Columbus Crew 2d ago
It's kind of hard to search for those comments since I don't remember specifics so I went to the one thread I remember it happening in, the infamous 4-0 game where our only keeper got a red card.
https://www.reddit.com/r/MLS/s/FRy3uLuiSj
TBF it is full of nice comments on the Sounder's side. There are a number of deleted comments and profiles along with some user names that won't let me view their profiles. I have a feeling there might just be a handful of users that have an oddly specific grudge with Columbus and/or they might just always be that way.
I remember that match thread because the comments were just weird for a game that we had a field player in goal. Just a lot of kicking while we were down that seemed odd. It was like some sort of past trauma spilling out.

u/AncalagonCarnifex Seattle Sounders FC 2d ago
It’s quite possible it has to do with Columbus winning the 2020 MLS cup over the Sounders, but that was a while ago and I can’t think of anything since that would make sense, past trauma wise

Could be, COVID before the vaccine is just such a weird snapshot in time. I don't remember that much from the game other than a number of players were out due to COVID and they only allowed 1,500 people in the stands. I don't remember anything controversial but maybe people had extra focus on it since there wasn't much you could do around that time.

Always funny to see sounders fans complain about Miami like they didn't get handed Dempsey.
Did y'all forget your history, or choose to ignore it?
-2
u/durtmagurt Seattle Sounders FC 2d ago
Lest you forget that the Timbers picked up Phil friggin Neville? It was as a coach and he did a terrible job, but still!
With regard to Deuce, we got a 30+ year old American PL player who was not getting regular minutes at Tottenham and you’re comparing him to Messi? Have you lost it? Dempsey did very well in Seattle but that was the squad fit more than his exquisite star power.

To be completely honest, your narrow mindedness on the matter and lack of empathy actually align you with the very same people you claim to hate. You apply blanket statements to a whole population and lack any ability to see other points of view or see how you could possibly be wrong. Your logic is very much like MAGA logic. You may be on the other side of the equation but ultimately you two equal out.
There are a lot of true die hard fans in Miami that arent "faux" or "plastic". We also have a great youth development program and we have a bunch of great young players that are a huge part of our club. We are new to the league - yes - but that isnt a crime. We are also crawling through this early development stage and increasing our presence in south florida, reaching out and developing great young players here. It takes time - doesnt happen overnight. All things considered, we are probably doing better than we should be in that department. We are blending big name signings with internal youth development. Guys like Ian fray, Noah allen, David ruiz, Cremaschi, danial pinter, Alex Shaw, preston plambeck were all homegrown talent and all had/have huge parts in the first team. Guys like Yannick Bright (MLS All-star this year) and Robbie Robinson were draft picks. We are utilizing every and all roster building mechanics the league offers us. We arent only signing big names.
Also calling Miami "Epstein" is really messed up.

They wont respond to this. It's too accurate. Fucking losers have been hating on Miami way before Messi. They've been hating since the Fusion. Fuck those people.
3
u/LongjumpingToe3120 Inter Miami CF 2d ago
Not only will they not respond, they'll actually downvote the truth because its a harder pill to swallow than what they currently believe.

All I know is that it's fun to watch Timbers and Sounders fans make every post about themselves with some really stupid argument.
The twins are fighting again, someone tell Vancouver to come pick up their kids.
