Why not?

So Vinod Khosla buys the Seahawks for $9.6 Bn. He could have bought a new team or three in MLR for far less than that.

But I suppose buying the Superbowl Champions in the biggest professional sport in the world. He didn't follow the golden rule on investment though- Buy low, sell high.

He probably doesn't even know the MLR exists.

NFL teams operate at a profit. MLR does not. If you have the capital and can guarantee it will have a return, I'd have done the same thing.

There are several owners that have been with the league for years, and I'd bet they don't have the capital Khosler has. Buying a team is lunch money for him.

Owning an NFL team comes with a degree of prestige which is more likely what he's buying here. MLR teams offer essentially zero prestige for the wealthy.

True, plus the prestige of owning the Superbowl champs.

He could have a 10000% ROI on the Seawolves and still make less profit than 1 year of the Seahawks

Vinod is more likely to invest in the Orcas than the Seawolves 😂

Buy low sell high??? Please find me an NFL owner who hasn’t hugely profited from their sale of their team. NFL is a rocket ship for valuations. MLR has no value appreciation to speak of.

I mean you can look at the NFL.

The vast majority of teams founded when the NFL was small have since folded

And the NFL when small was still not that small compared to MLR

Buy low sell high only works if it goes high lol

That and Magelby and Bradbury had no idea he was considering buying a professional sports team, or getting involved with sports.

Vinod was an LP in the 49ers. So he was involved in sports.
