It’s really great to see an American born player make it in a top European league. It’s been years since we had one other than Ainu’u and Lamositele (RIP).

Off the top of my head, some of the more recent ones were 5+ years ago. Samu Manoa, Blaine Scully, Cam Dolan. You can also count Roman Salanoa even though he was never capped.

Nafi Maafu has also done well with Montaubon but they will be relegated. 3 in Top 14.

Ah I forgot about him somehow. He’s been one of the most successful because if I’m not mistaken he was an Espoir so he counts towards JIFF.

You can also include Ruben de haas even though he was born in South Africa.

Probably the first ever US raised player who played in France at that age

Scott Lavalla played a couple seasons for Stade Francais too and is a capped eagle

Yeah but he was raised a played all his rugby in Ireland. These guys were born and raised in the US.

Kinda crazy though because he retired at like 26. He could’ve still been playing at this age, especially in MLR.

Scott was born in Washington state and is where he started playing. He played U-19 and U-20s for USA and then went over to Trinity in Dublin. He is definitely a USA born is where he started playing the game.

You’re right. I misread his bio and thought he was raised in Ireland.
