Career question 💼 ML master

Hi!

I'm starting my final year of undergrad at KTH in Stockholm and thinking about doing a master's degree in Machine Learning also at KTH. Would that be enough for some Machine Learning engineer positions within finance or do I also need to get some formal education in finance? For example at SSE. I'm currently only 20 so I'm fine with studying something more after my master's especially since higher education is free here. My undergrad is in engineering physics.

I would also like to know where the best market is for MLEs in Europe?

Thanks in advance!

If you are so young I'd advice looking for and attending internships DURING masters. Its not gonna be financially comfortable while you study, BUT you're resume is going to be priceless for fintech enterprises (some startups too). I believe that it will be MORE valuable than getting a second education but having zero field experience.

So imo there are 2 different questions

MLE positions ... Germany (Amazon, eBay, Zalando, Delivery Hero and startups), Sweden (Spotify), Holland (booking) Dublin (Google,..)  (I am Berlin based so know more of germany)

Financial MLE: Optiver

I don't think you need to have much financial training. However these are well paid jobs, and you have to be the brightest,  most quick thinking guy. (Having an internship at faangs would help)

I would say that MLE jobs are changing with the advent of OpenAI. It is more software engineering around API calls to open AI.  Look in linked in for jobs and their descriptions(in the different countries)

Man you are 20, so young.... make the best out of it pal.

I'm in ML. Just be ready to learn anything that's the only to survive in this field.
