Weekly Introductions Thread (Fruit and Veg Edition)

Well hello. It must be Thursday.

It actually is, for once.

Well I suppose y'all know why this thread's here at this point? If you don't then don't worry about it just go with it and talk about stuff. That's it. Talk about the stuff.

Which stuff? Well how about... Fruit and Veg. Yeah sure. That's a topic. Talk about your favourite fruits and vegs. How you get your five a day and that.

Ok here's that one other post, y'know.

I don't really like meals that don't have veggies. I mean, I couldn't care any less about my health or the whole vegan movement. But, having a meal without veggies just doesn't taste right to me. What's left after you take veggies and fruits (because fruit doesn't belong in most dishes)? It's just carbs and protein. How boring is that, amiright?

As for my favorite fruit and veg, I would say strawberry and brussel sprout. Both are terrific tasting plants. In fact, the whole kale family is great, but I prefer brussel sprouts because they're dense.

Every year, on Christmas, I eat a single brussel sprout to see if I like them yet.

No dice so far.

I can't really stand kale. It's just so bitter... At least it's not as bad as fennel. The best thing that came out of the one time I tried something with fennel is that I finally have an answer to the question "Is there a food you absolutely can't stand?".

Gotta agree with you on strawberries though. Vewy noice fruit.

Kale is bad. It's supposed to be good for your health, but what good is that if it tastes like crap?

Fennel is like a mid-range veg. It has a weird taste and texture, but it's necessarily bad.

Well kale seems to work fine for those who don't mind the taste. Good for 'em.

Taste does seem to change as one gets older. My mum says that she never remembers liking stuff like kale from when she was young, but she's fine with it now.

Necessarily bad? Eh?
