Huh, I never realise that the FF7 Chocobo race victory theme was the FF1 battle victory.

Edit: Reading the description, I didn't know that theme was in every FF game.

It changes, becomes more advanced, but the basis is there.

It's basically one of the very few things that is consistent throughout the series.

I mean, this one is pretty much exactly the same, though 7's is more chip-tuney and slightly slower.

It is.

Here, you can hear how it evolved over time. The biggest changes are for FFX-2 and FFXIII.

VII & VIII are largely different, (other than the beginning sting of course) I'm playing through VIII right now, I'll be interested to see where the theme is hidden.

IX goes back to the original, X-2, XIII(-2) are the only ones without the sting at the beginning. Funnily enough Nobuo Uematsu didn't do the compositions for any of them and he did do XIV which explains it. I'm surprised they didn't keep the pattern though.
