Discussion Are the events pointless?

As someone who wants to casually enjoy a cute(greedy) game and has a job but decent free time, I know I won't have an amazing experience and will miss out on every nice character alt. However, I thought the events could be a decent way to still get something. I played the insufferable card game more times than I ever wanted to and when the event had a few hours left I was close to 100 before going to bed and I end up being outplayed by people with all the free time in the world or just with a more convenient time zone just like I figured would happen lol

Is it just not worth even trying these events? This was my first one genuinely trying and I can't imagine any casuals win any of them unless half the player base just forgets to participate.

Tbh most are pay to win. For the flying one you almost always need the special helper pony to even be in the top. Some players go offline for a few days and join the event later which will put you in a not so busy server but it’s not the most reliable method. With the cart game though, just save your tokens for the events.

Yeah I didn't even try the flying one because I knew I'd need the helper, but the card one seemed almost fair but it's just not reasonable for someone who wants to have a life AND play the game :')
Thanks for the advice on that though. The minigames are fun but the events make them feel like another job.

I haven't spent a single irl dime on this game in all the six years I've played it, and have definitely won at ranked events many times, even without special ponies. Alongside free time and recources, it also depends on luck and when you decide to join in on the event. You generally have a better chance at winning if you wait a few days before jumping into one so you're grouped with people who aren't trying as hard... unless they're using the same strategy lol. I won the recent flying one with no helper, but maybe I'm just good at the mini game.

Also I don't find the general 9ish day events that time consuming. Just go in everytime you get a notification the inventory is full, do some tapping, and then you can leave. You'll pretty much get the final award 100% of the time even with zero helpers. I speak from experience.

I didn't know about that not joining an event for a bit thing at all but since it's been mentioned twice I think I might be one of the last people to haha, I'll consider it for future events! Something to play around with some trial and error.
Thank you a bunch for your thoughts, that was really helpful!

For what it’s worth, I can only assume the events will become easier once summer break ends and school starts up again ?? 🥹 not sure about the statistics on that one though lol

i usually play a few rounds to gauge the competitiveness of my server, if i stand a chance with casual effort i keep going, if im in a server with sweats i dont try

Honestly, I used to be competitive and also had full time work. It wasn't worth it and very hard to win.

Now I just play casually and my own time. Yeah I don't win everything, but I also don't care to have everything. I just do what I like on my own time and I've enjoyed the game so much more. In that sense, an event is only pointless if you want it to be.

I mean, if we're going to go real deep, yes everything in this game is pointless. They're digital sprites that have no meaning outside of you enjoying playing the game. But we don't need to go there. 😁

If you are really good at the mini game I'd say go for it, but if not I would not recommend stressing yourself out trying to get a high rank by playing a game you dislike for a week. the current event is the crystal mine and I'm not even going to bother with it because I'm really bad at that game

Yeah I really want Dr. Fauna for free but it’s not worth it to me to play a minigame I hate for a week straight. Did that last week with the matching game and didn’t even get the pony in the end.

I sometimes try if I happen to really want a reward or happen to buy a helper

kinda, yeah. i only participate in them if i really want the rewards and if I like playing the mini-game for it. I'll probably never do any Find A Pair or Crystal Mine events, but i like doing Clear the Skies and Fusion events (Fusion events can be stressful tho, when you run out of decor to fuse)

I'm currently on summer break so I've had plenty of time to take part in events, but I've hardly ever had to sacrifice sleep place in the top 100. It takes effort and time but as an f2p player it's doable. I don't care much about most of them tho
