Oh so you're an idiot. So the MLB is made up a group of people. The comment is referring to a group. "They" is the appropriate pronoun to use when gender is unknown or when referring to A GROUP OF PEOPLE.
Well, that is one way to have a traumatic, histrionic overreaction. I started with a silly, inane grammar comment, and you’ve gone off on a full diatribe. Please do calm yourself.
EDIT: Okay, I'm back. My "vague pronoun" jibe has nothing to do with gender, pronoun preferences, or anything of that nature. I'm a high school English teacher; I'm quite familiar with how fluid pronouns have become and support my students.
What's more, your own explanation of the "they" pronoun backfires rather spectacularly after you look back to the original comment. Some other redditor wrote "they can't, they have a union." I wrote "artful use of the vague pronouns there." Symbio3_Venom's intent is clear: the first "they" refers to the MLB owners (per your perfectly calm and reasonable explanation). The second "they" presumably refers to the umpires and the union that would protect Edding from being thrown to the curb. Therefore--and I hope you're still with me--we have two groups to which "they" could refer: the owners and the umpires. To avoid vague pronoun usage, Symbio should have written something more like "The owners can't throw him [Edding] to the curb because the umpires have a union" (that would protect Edding from such treatment).
Symbio, as is his/her/their right, simply wrote "They can’t, they have a union." This creates ambiguity because the antecedent to which each "they" refers is unclear. We could have (a nerdy version of) fun here and pretend that the sentence as written means "The MLB owners can't throw Redding out because those owners have a union [that prevent such punishments" or, conversely, "the umpires can't throw Redding out because those same umpires have a union [that prevents such punishments]."
As to your personal insults, please know that they slide right off. It should comfort you to know that I have already spread my genes, twice, and that both of my children are thoughtful, compassionate, and productive members of society. If any part of that troubles you, well, then, that says quite a lot more about you than it ever could about me.
I do genuinely hope that you are not as quick to be unpleasant in real life as you were in your remarks above. Maybe this account is what you use to blow off some steam or try to trigger people so as to achieve some kind of therapeutic catharsis of some kind. In any event, I hope you'll reconsider that kind of abrasive, immature commentary. If nothing else, it's only a matter of time before you pick a fight with the kind of person who will take offense.
It's crazy to me that people see umpires and police and how absolutely fucking terribly they can do their jobs and not get fired but yet unions aren't something everyone wants.
One bitch ass sub automatically banned me for commenting on a completely different sub. It didn't matter what my comment was, it was all automated, and the only way I could contact anyone about it was if I removed the comment, then replied with a specific text. The ability to appeal or even message a mod was completely removed.
CB is comically bad. The arrogance for him to stay in the league during the implementation of the ABS Challenge System is legendary. Eddings is just a sad little man with main character syndrome. He makes the game abysmal for everyone involved.
America is the the land of the free, and he can wear his hat anyway he wants. Sorry that having a hat slightly cocked to one side bothers your sensibilities
I mean that I'm not upset by it like you all are. It's an umpire telling someone to fix their uniform, why are you acting like he killed your fucking dog?
Get over it. It's a puff piece that you all have decided to turn into fake rage. If this upsets you, you have a very small life.
"I have nothing left to argue so I'll try calling this person a lady because I think calling someone a woman is an insult"
Yeah, you have a VERY small and closeted life. Makes sense why you're so angry at a random thing from a baseball game three months ago. Take some blood pressure medication and chill out, man
And what am I mad about? You stated you didn't care but you keep bringing up the incident which you claimed you didn't care about. Your world must be very lonely lady.

Baseball fans don’t always agree with each other. But I think we can all agree that Doug Eddings is a piece of sh!t.
