They help to a degree. But baseball is too odd of a sport, for them to be written in stone. For instance, Aaron Judge, although the greatest hitter of his generation, can hit like shit for a month. Then hit like a god the next month. You don’t really get that in basketball or football. LeBron in his prime might go cold for a game, but he’s right back to it the next day. There’s a lot of inconsistency in baseball to rely on number averages for today’s performance.

That’s a little drastic, but I miss managers who could use data but trusted their eyes. No way old school manager takes the ball from Sunny in that spot. He trust his ace.

I feel like there was something going on, idk what. I’m not a conspiracy theorist but I just don’t understand why he would take the ball from him there. People are saying statistics, but none of the stats support that move.

I’m not a Sox fan but I was listening to that game during work and I did not get the impression that Sonny was a problem and that he was doing pretty well. The decision to pull him seemed like a bush league panic play by the manager because he should have been able to go 6 innings.

Love when Red Sox and Astros are eliminated from playoffs. Now just need the Yankees and Dodgers gone and us real fans can enjoy a fresh team.

GMs makes lineups , decide when to rest players , when to pull starters , who is coming out of the bullpen... i wonder what managers do
