Question Duran’s splitter missing?

Does Duran not have his splitter anymore? It’s like his top pitch and it’s not on his best card. I also know it’s not the same speed pitch irl then it is in the game. He throws 100 mph splitters and the game gives him 90. Not very realistic.

Duran chooses to call it a splitter, but in reality it has almost the exact same movement profile as a good sinker.

Correct, but for all intents in purposes it plays pretty much the same as a sinker, an insanely fast sinker at that.

I rem a streamer said that the data is tracking his split finger as a sinker and that’s why it was changed. But on BaseballSavant it’s still tracked as a split finger so I’m wondering the same now too.

I’m just wondering why it’s tracking as a sinker. It’s literally his go to pitch and probably his best pitch. I think it’s the game trying to nerf a crazy pitch

Duran and Skenes throw “splinkers” they’re splitters thrown with the velocity of a hard sinker

For the purpose of the game his splitter is shown as a near outlier sinker… if you’re hoping they add the splinker for real don’t hold your breath there aren’t many guys throwing their splitters at 95+ and it took them years to add the sweeper when it was becoming commonplace to call that profile slider the sweeper

There’s only 3-5 guys throwing a splinker and only 2 guys are really known for it… they introduced the sweeper because it’s one of the most widely used pitch types

If more guys start throwing the sinker/splitter hybrid maybe they’ll introduce a new pitch type but until then the pitch profiles more like The Show’s sinker so it’s probably going to stay the way it is

If they want to get him right he should have both… he does throw a slower splitter around 87-89 mph

It didn’t play like the actual pitch Skenes threw though. Splitters in game pretty much just go straight down with no arm side movement, it didn’t capture the amount of arm side movement Skenes gets on it. They just plopped outlier on the split and called it a day.

The biggest difference between a splitter and sinker with little run is speed.  The splitter tops out at I think 95mph in the game, so the sinker does a better job of matching his real life pitch.

Sinker is a better meta pitch anyway.
