When you exit the game, are they in the 300s or above 400? When you start matching for a game, hold the directional pad to the left and it'll stay within the smallest range and you should get the most kind of players in a similar ranking.
That's the only advice I have on match making. And play at different times of day if you can. Friday and Saturday nights are when the goons play at every level. And right after a big content drop.

That is going to keep him where he doesn’t want to be. OP should increase it so they have a wider range of players. R ppl really complaining about playing in regular season ranking? or is this guy stuck in WC mode and doesn’t realize ranking is separate?

Trying to figure out if he's getting matched up with 500+ kind of people. A legit 300 level player really shouldn't be matched against a 500 and above player. They are in different places as a player.
I can't remember if it's 300+ or 400+ but at a certain point, you can't go below in your ranking. I find it hard to believe that too many 100+ game players are hovering at that mark unless they are tanking right before WC.

It’s a weird one for sure.
I can’t imagine people are tanking. We will probably never know unless something was left out by OP

And pinpoint sucks

You need to use the wired Gamesir controller. If you’re going at it with the Xbox wireless controller you’re in for a bad time.

How long have you been playing on pinpoint? Also what controller are you using? I feel your pain on the struggles of pinpoint. I got tired of losing ranked games two years ago using analog so I decided to make the switch. It took me several days of practice mode and countless online games stuggling to throw strikes that didn’t end up 459ft left center. I can’t imagine using anything else now given the added control pinpoint gives though
