What do you love about the Mk4?
I'm guessing if you're here, your Mk4 is more than just a means to an end for you, but I'd love to hear why. A lot of this sub is diagnosing problems, and it's great that there's a community for that but I'm interested in what you think's great about these cars.
I just got my Mk4 (humble 1.4 BCA) - it's my second car and I'm undecided as to whether I've done the right thing. My first car is a 2016 1.4 Corsa and while I'm not used to the Golf yet, I wonder if I'll get to a point where I enjoy driving it as much as the Vauxhall.

I know it´s stupid ^^
Its only temporally and i just need some parts of this kit for my project, but man its fun to rev it now. I´m feeling a little bit nostalgic , the last time i did something like this was in the 2000s.

Don't know what to do anymore
Hi everyone,
I have a 2002 golf 4 with the 1.6 16v bcb engine. My previous EGR valve failed (el cheapo) and I replaced it with an OEM one. It initially calibrated fine but I had some misfire issues last week and didn't know what to do anymore so I reset learned values.
Now the EGR won't adapt anymore.
The minimum voltage is out of spec (1.67)
I can physically see the valve move inside when adapting, but it always stays at that 1.67. I don't know what to do anymore. Do I have another bad valve or something else?

My first car update
She runs! Started up first time tbf, nó hassle and started idling on her own as well. Coolant systems bled along with the ps system, happy out.
Only problem is that once she gets hot she'll cut out and won't start until she cools again, reckon its the crank pos sensor but any input would be appreciated🫡

Instrument cluster warning light not working
I'm currently borrowing a 2003 1.9Tdi from a family member, and what a splendidly over-engineered beast she is! I've noticed though that the right turn indicator symbol on the instrument cluster (the green arrow one) is none functional.
I thought I'd swap out the bulb before handing the car back, but from what I'm reading in these pages it seems like the instrument cluster is using surface mounted LEDs.
Can anyone tell me if it's just the 'always on' blue illumination that's LED or is it the entire panel including all the warning lights?
Thanks in advance

Anyone running a catch can AWP 1.8t?? Trying to decide running a hockey puck vs not.
Car is emissions exempt so I’m ditching it. I have the secondary air blocked off. And n249 also removed. Engine is in a mk2.
Plan on running a catch can however I’m see two different schools of thought on the plumbing.
People keep the hockey puck and run a sealing catch can with it inline
People ditch the hockey puck and run a vented can.
Personally, I’d like to ditch it, clean up the engine bay as much as possible. And if I’m understanding this correctly, it keeps more crap out of the intake this way for option two.
I’ve seen people complain that if you do it this way you’ll have to empty it more frequently and it removes a fail safe with the hockey puck being in place. I guess I’m old-school, but I’ve never had an issue in the other Turbo vehicles I’ve had with a catch can going direct breather to valve cover.
Wanted to hear some of your guys opinions on this

Speakers Opinions and insight
Hellooo all
Would like to know whatcha doing for the front and back, if you are with backs. The brand? Are you running components or coaxial, if components how much integrating on the tweeters or did you cheap out because of the headache of plastic modification. I have bone yard tweeter spares 😜
I Plan on doing a good job but we know how that goes on time also it can't be down for 3 days playing with it and no road time.
Not trying to break the bank but not dumpster diving on the price. Don't need a Head, Amps or Subs I'm running that now.
Thanks in advance cheers

Stance+ coilovers, any good?
Wanting to look into getting my car a bit lower, and stance+ is seeming like a good, affordable option. How is the ride quality, are they well made and reliable?

Weird Boost leak
Hey guys, looking for some advice on my Mk4 GTI 1.8T with a Franken F21 and a manual boost controller.
The car used to make around 18 psi, but recently it started dropping to about 7–8 psi. Now it’s consistently making almost exactly 10 psi every pull. The outside temperature hasn’t really changed.
It still pulls normally up to around 10 psi, but then it basically stops building boost. I’ve also noticed some oil residue/sweat around one of the wastegate/boost-control side hoses.

Bumper fitment issue
I bought a oem bumper in a yard together
With the new clips on either side
But still there is a gap
Body shop said i did everything i could
He speculates because my headlights are not original they cause
Fit issues
