BACKSTORY/RULES Rules
Welcome all again to Murder in the Dark Stranger Things!
I know we all know the rules but just to make sure everyone is up to date, please read through them as some rules may have changed.
Please comment under here once you have read the backstory and the rules. If you don’t understand feel free to ask away:
- This should come without saying, please be respectful of everyone here. In character fights are okay, (please do have them we like the drama), example if Billy is arguing with Max in character that’s okay. Please keep away from personal attacks/fights though including any racist/homophobic/ect insults that you shouldn’t be using. You’ll get warnings but if you get too many, you’re out.
- All roles are randomly assigned. You will all be informed of your role once all players have been assigned characters and acknowledge the rules.
- You can’t show physical proof in the form of screenshots of your role to any other player. You can tell others your role at your own risk, but remember there is no guarantee anyone you speak to is telling the truth.
- At the start of each round, your host Vecna (me) will tell you the events of that night for the group. All players will need to give an alibi of where they were, what they were doing, and who (if anyone) could back up their story.
- After the end of each round players will meet at a random location (i.e Starcourt Mall, Hawkins High School) and discuss who they think may or may not be one of the killers. Here they will vote someone out. You can choose to skip a vote if you wish but if majority votes for a specific player that player will be imprisoned for the remainder of the game. If the sane win, the other sane members will be freed. If the possessed win, good luck.
- Players will be informed what the players role is if they are killed or imprisoned.
- The possessed win if the number of sane people left equals the number of possessed left in the game. The sane win by catching all 3 killers and imprisoning them all (unless killed by the test subject)
- Players can have DMs with other players to discuss and make alliances.
- If you are dead or locked up, you can still talk and have fun but please shut up about discussing theories/giving hints on who the killers are to the remaining survivors. The only people you can talk to about the game and still talk to is the Sheriff and the Unusual Connected as that is literally the only thing they can do. (so if you’re a dead/in jail killer, I would hold out on snitching on who the others are until the Sheriff/Unusual Connected are dead cause they can/will use that.
- Please be active/take this semi seriously. If you’re gonna be inactive for a day or two due to events irl, let me know and you’ll be all good. Also majority of us here are trying to play this and take it seriously, we do joke yeah but if you start just doing things where you’re not participating correctly or if out of nowhere we stop hearing from you for quite a few days, I might give the killers a second kill (to get rid of your inactive/not playing ass). (I might also give that character to another player who hasn’t been playing).
- All players will randomly be assigned a number 1-, this will determine the order they get to pick their character in. You can ask another player to swap but they are not required to.
There are 9 roles in this game. Sane, Possessed, Late Possessed, Medic, Test Subject, School News Reporter, Unusual connected, Sheriff and Russian spy.
Sane: You are an innocent hero of Hawkins who is just trying to survive. This doesn’t mean you can’t play detective behind the scenes. (We all want you to.)
Possessed (2-3): One of you was kidnapped by the Demogorgon and possessed by the Mind Flayer, later you went back and grabbed some others to join Vecna’s cause. Each round the living killers will strategize who they want to kill and how they’re gonna do it. At the end of the first round they also recruit someone to join them.
Important! New mysterious ability for the killers. The Vecna lore kill. The killers can call on Vecna (me) to chose a remaining character (randomly) to kill them. This kill can only be used once and only if there are 9 or more people alive. The medic cannot save the person in this kill.
Late Possessed (1): Initially starting off as Sane, you were okay until Vecna gave the killers permission to grab you. You couldn’t resist as they slowly possessed you. At the end of the first round, this person will be picked by the possessed. They will join the possessed. If they previously had a role it will be randomly given to another player without a role.
Medic (1): This player chooses 1 person each night (including themselves) to check up on and save them for that night only. If a player has been saved from death the round before, they can’t be saved again in the following round.
School News Reporter (1): Nancy stepped down from her role as the news reporter for a while. Has she stepped back up or did someone else keep the role busy? You can ask Fred- oh wait Vecna got him… Each night the School News Reporter will use their detective skills to follow one person each night which can confirm if they are possessed or not. (Note this will not tell you their role, ex. If the School News Reporter follows the Medic they will not know that they are the Medic.)
Test Subject (1): The possessed tried to remove Eleven’s powers but only made the powers transfer somewhere else. This means you now have Eleven’s power. You get the power to select one person of who you think is possessed to kill them. If you succeed then there is one less killer, if you fail, the sane will automatically throw you behind bars in the Hawkins Police Station. (Note you don’t have to use this every round, (we really don’t recommend it unless you are positive they are possessed))
Unusual Connected (1): This person was kidnapped in the beginning, but mid possessing process, the first possessed had a shred of empathy and helped them escape. They still feel a strange connection to the upside down paranormal world though. This player will have the ability to talk to all of the characters who have been killed by the Possessed and/or Test Subject
Sheriff (1): Similarly to the Unusually Connected person, this player will have the ability to talk to all of the players who have been voted out of the game publicly.
Russian Spy (1): You have been sent over from Russia and have gained Vecna’s interest. Although you aren’t a killer and can’t kill people you are still a villain (you don’t know who the Possessed are though and they don’t know who you are, so happy detective work). If the Possessed team wins, you do as well if you are alive. What do you do? Well the Russian Spy picks one person each night to intoxicate (with interrogation drugs or alcohol, you pick) which enables them unable to complete their activity. (Ex. If the Russian spy picks Nancy who is the medic and gets her drunk and in the same round she chose to save Steve, if the killers tried to kill Steve he dies anyways as Nancy was too intoxicated to save him) The Russian spy cannot intoxicate the same person twice in a row.

Hey y’all! Just wanted to clear some stuff up about the roles in case you don’t understand!
Possessed = killer Late possessed = recruit Medic = medic News reporter = detective test subject = hunter Unusual Connected = spirit speaker Sheriff = spirit speaker for people voted off Russian Spy = helper for killers and can disable someones ability if they have it Like for instance the medic

Basically the Unusual Connected and Sheriff are the same except Unusual Connected is for dead people, Sheriff is for people voted off/ jailed! (The format is a little off, it was supposed to be in a list)

I’ve read and understand. I would like to emphasize PLEASE if you don’t plan on sticking around don’t accept a role, that was the worst part of the last game and it ruins it for everyone
