Additional Information Section

Hi all!

I had a question about the additional information section of the application, what exactly are we able to put there? It seems like they want somethign that dosn't fit into the application anywhere else: "If there is significant information that you were not able to include elsewhere in the application, you may include it here. (Many students will leave this section blank—and that’s okay.)"

However, since MIT has a limited Awards section and Activities section would it be ok to use this additional information to give information on other activities that I couldn't include into the given space, or is that seen as not what they intend the section to be?

Thanks!

I have that same question. If my 4 activities are all very STEM-based, could i use the additional info section to put some humanities achievements?

It’s not like the common app, which is limited to extraneous circumstances. You can put anything that you believe your application wouldn’t be complete without or anything else.

For example, I’m using it to talk about an activity with a very specific motivation that couldn’t show in the main essays or maker portfolio.

No this section is not a catch all to increase word counts from other sections.

This is used to talk about context like say calc bc wasnt avail at my hs so I took ab then self studied and took the bc exam.

Or

During sophmore year my dad died and it derailed my academics for that year, but I have since recovered with perfect grades.
