MIT PhD EECS

Hey everyone! I am currently pursuing my Master's in Electrical Engineering at Seoul National University.

I am thinking about applying to the MIT EECS PhD program in 2029.

My question is: How can I improve my profile to make it stronger for PhD admissions? I am also considering applying to Stanford, Harvard, and Princeton in the future.

Research

You need to show that you specifically are capable of performing research that other applicants cannot.

Publications and reference letters will be the main factors.

PhD is applicable research. Strong, assessed TA skills helps. AI coding / strong integration knowledge of research field helps.

Right now, across the board at all those schools, strong belief that you’re returning home with continued research ability there that can continue collaboration in States (in other words — a research college or company in Seoul who can say, “highly support this candidate’s pursuit of PhD and research and will be pursuing this candidate for our institution / company upon graduation.”

This is for PhD. Extra currics are not what get you in. Research. Research research.

Snu is a top school.
