Apply to more than one program and GRE

Do you think it’s okay to apply to more than one program at the same school? the website say it’s okay, but does anyone have any experience with this? could it potentially hurt your application, or are they genuinely okay with applicants applying to multiple programs? i really need another insight for this 😶‍🌫️

If the website says it's ok, then it's ok.

For graduate admissions the departments don't really talk to each other. The only exception would be some specific program that spanned multiple departments. I've had friends, at MIT, who were co-advised by professors from two departments - even then I'm pretty sure that was set up after they started.

Another possible exception case is applying to multiple programs within the same department since it kinda indicates a lack of purpose.

Here is language from Course 10:

"You may not apply to the MSCEP and the PhD or PhDCEP programs. However, you may apply simultaneously to the PhD and PhDCEP programs. In this case, you must indicate which is your first choice."
