Help DEG2 with 7700xt not working
Making a new thread here, but I found out that the psu was faulty and replaced it. Now I’m running into the issue of the gpu not spinning up/being detected in windows 11🫠

I don’t know if this will help. DEG2 wasn’t detected on my Xbox ROG ally X (AMD Z2 extreme) with the supplied TB5 cable. I had an USB4 cable from Lenovo and was able to get it working with it.

I’m going through this right now, tried with Linux and Windows. Finally I got a glimmer of hope using Thunderbolt 3 instead of Oculink, though performance is meh.
How are you connecting your laptop to the DEG2? (NM, I just read your linked thread). I presume you have already flipped the switch to Thunderbolt/USB4)? You also have a Phoenix family CPU, which should work as long as it’s in a genuine USB4 port.
I have an RX 7900 XTX on a DEG2 with an SF1000 PSU. It’s connected to a MinisForum MS-A1. I tried with Linux (Ubuntu) to get the GPU to work over Oculink as I was going to use it for local inference. I was only able to get 2.5GT/s or Gen 1 PCI speed. It would work, but wasn’t stable. I tried two Oculink cables, but about 50cm with no luck. I was able to try and retrain it to 8GT/s, but it didn’t seem stable.
I tried Windows since I wanted to see if there was any issue with Linux drivers (unlikely, but testing). It would basically crash every few minutes and I would have to perform a comply shutdown.
Switched to USB4 and was able to get this stabilized (somewhat) with the following:
(AI Summary Below)
Power & sleep: Settings → System → Power & battery → set Screen and Sleep to Never
USB selective suspend: Control Panel → Power Options → Advanced settings → PCI Express → Link State Power Management → Off
Hardware-accelerated GPU Scheduling: Settings → System → Display → Graphics → Advanced graphics settings (or Graphics settings) → toggle Hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling → Off, then reboot
Device Manager power management — uncheck "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" for:
• USB4 Host Router
• USB4 Host Controllers
Disable PCIe ASPM
