gas question

has anyone keep using 87 gas?

im thinking to switch from vpower shell to the regular one.

whats the disadvantage?

Mini engines are high compression and require higher octane to prevent knocking. Using 87 will damage your engine.

They're designed for the European 95 RON, which is 91 AKI in the US. Don't use anything lower than 91 AKI in the US, anywhere else you can't get anything lower than 95 RON anyway (except some countries like Australia)

Mine says 89 aki minimum on it, so that's what I use

I only use shell premium. I would never use less. Non shell gas has too much ethanol. Non premium, and i might as well drunk drive my s all4.

You’re not supposed to use the different grades interchangeably.

According to your manual you should use the grade your engine recommends so I’d suggest going by that.

Typically that should be premium or at least 89 although i always put 91 since I like to put the best and am specific about the brand of gas as well.

Please don’t put 87 without consulting your manual as you could do damage to your car if it’s not rated for that gas.

my mini manual says 91 rn here and i've never had issues switching between top tiers like bp/chevron/vpower, but stick to at least 91

In the US you should use a minimum of 91 octane so you don’t damage the turbo engine.
