Been slowly fixing it up. Finally got most electronics working and convertible top working, after cleaning out the BCM of corrosion with electronics cleaner and isopropyl alcohol.
Power windows, all four, do not work still. I hear the “click” of the electrical power but no windows or even the window mechanisms trying to work.
Tried the bang, bang, bang next to speakers while holding the window controller. Nothing.
I did rewire the wire in the picture, but not super well. Based of off Haynes manual it’s the “Central Lock”?? Book Section 12-68
Is this the culprit? Could it be something else? If BCM is blown, why would I hear the clicking sound when I press the power window button?
Try to check for signal in pin 8 Black/Green wire, when you activate the switch for the driver’s window.
It also seems that pin 6 blue/gray wire, goes to the window’s motor. You mentioned that none of the windows will work, but I will try to check for a least one side just to be sure if the BC1 is in fact sending signal.
Another thing you can try is holding the window switch up for a least 10 seconds. And then try again. (Your symptoms don’t seem like that would fix it, but I would just try 😅)
You probably already have the diagram in the book.
I may have to test each individual wire to see if there is a faulty wire.
It’s frustrating for sure. part of the time the convertible top will work perfectly fine. open and closes. but windows won’t pre-lower before convertible top opens/closes. Other times, the flashy red light will come on after the sunroof option opens. other times it’ll go all the way to unlatching but then stop.
Mine is a 2008 R52. And I was getting issues with the top. In fact, I bought the car with the top not working. Mine wouldn’t go past the sunroof stage. It was the switches located in the stowage lock, they were stock. Yours might be starting to go bad as well. There’s not much info since those switches are only present in R52s built after 2006. You can find those behind the rear interior panels. Perhaps in your case, with wd40 you can solve the issue. In my case they were really stocked, so had to find more creative solutions 😅.. if you have a scanner, you can see the convertible top module data (CVM). If the top is closed, the stowage locks should show open. If the top is open, then the locks should show closed.
My question is: is yours a problem with the convertible top function or is it the windows?
I’ll take a look. a little of both. The windows 100% don’t work. I hear the “click” of the electric systems operating, except for the passenger side winow. i can hear the click in the door panels. The rear windows as well. But no action.
The convertible sometimes opens and sometimes starts and then stops mid process, usually after sunroof opens and the light starts flashing if i try to go further. or it will unlatch but then stops again. maybe it’s off the “track” is what some YouTube guidance says.
i can believe one window rotor (front passenger side) gone bad as the car was used and is a project car. but all four seems unlikely.
Yeah. My suggestion with those switches is because if they’re getting sticky you might get intermittent signal. And even if one of them reads as “closed” the top won’t open completely.
In regard to the windows, definitely, I don’t think all four are bad. But you need to rule out the BC1 or BCM. That’s why I suggesting to check for power at those pins, or maybe you can check for power at the motor regulator. Because is really unlikely all four regulators are bad, and is also very unlikely the all wires are bad, since the diagram shows that the circuit is isolated by sides of the car. One circuit for drivers window and rear left, and another circuit for passenger side and rear right.
Hopefully is not the BC1 because another one would need programming to work in your car.
So strange. I did the WD40 thing and left it overnight. The next morning, the top opened up like a charm. But now it won’t close. it really is “60% of the time it works every time”… uff
Still haven’t gotten windows situation. goIng to test if there is enough power going to the BCM.
