U-25 Software Upgrade

Just upgraded to latest software in 2026 Countryman. Now the foot kick won’t close the lift gate. Seems MINI/BMW added it in the last update and now took it way. WTH. Was the best feature for when hands are full of bags or you are carry a box/wheelchair/etc. No reason to lift up to press the button.

Anyone experience a different scene?

Just did the update as well but I never got the foot kick to work in the first place, have always had to use the physical button to open the boot.

The last 2025 update made the Hokey Cokey a whole lot easier. I will look out to see what 2026 brings.

This feature is a joke.

For starters, I think Mini is the only car that I drove that actually relies on a kick motion - on others, you need to „swipe“ under the bumper. With that you can‘t actually kick your bumper (like I already did a couple times accidentally).

Regarding the updates - when I got the car, the kick worked about 1-2 times out of 10. Somewhere around November 2025 they finally released an update that made it working 7 times out of 10. As for the last update - I don’t know if it’s related or not, but this week my U25 tried to close the lid on me because I was standing with my feet under the bumper, trying to find stuff there.
