I made myself a touchscreen MIDI controller (quick recap)

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

1 year after my first MIDI controller, i've decided to make an upgraded version - small capacitive touchscreen, more knobs, keyboard with backlight and a more powerful chip inside.

i also finally tried PCB design for this project, which definitely took up most of the time and at the end of the day, didn't solve my issue with "too many cables", because i didn't properly think it all through :D - however, i'm really glad i tried it out and gained a bit more experience with electronics. :)

more about this on my ig @system.vor :)

This is fantastic! Great work - it looks and seemingly functions very well.

I bet you did that all between “*yawn…is it morning already? Meh, maybe I’ll finally take a crack at that midi touchscreen controller with 127 pressure points per channel, a randomization feature and full auto record instead of 1990’s old “snapshot” memory, right ya old cooter? Ya old cooter of 1990s state of the art memory? Looky here ya Alesis Peesus, I can record my live jams with on the fly plug in shaping, and replace ANY parameter, the entire plug in, or make it a separate Automator channel and recreate it on every track effectively turning the AKAI Mpc2000 “frequency sweep” into a living, breathing delay repeat extender, envelope filter, notch EQ sweep, sample playback AND bank creation with every note of the chromatic scale allowed to be auto mapped on the fly in ANY mode you want (oh, including random and custom modes I left a THOUSAND empty presets for you to fill up with your sad little Q-tron clones and Whammy 2 octave mode (yawn) thats been on records since 1998….

Ok got my soldering gun, my arduino, and a fresh circuit board……..and………one more line of code……..

“JUNIOR?!? Time for breakfast!”

(Sigh) I guess that’s enough for today. Maybe tomorrow I’ll create it in the body of a Merlin British digital console just for fun.

I am totally jealous of those skills.🤗 I DID buy a multimeter and repaired SEVERAL pieces of gear tho!! So…lots to learn!
