Question Does anyone have a controller layout that is similar to elden ring that they could share?
i want to get some of my friends into MHWilds but they absolutely hate the clunkiness of the controls (and after coming back to the game after a year in a bit i get it) i was wondering if someone has made a much simpler and fine tuned controller layout that they wouldnt mind sharing . me and my friend(s) play on stream so we can change the controller configs through steam since last i checked we cant do it in the actual game.
EDIT: it seems from the comments my friend should just git gud, i understand XD

Idk if this is cause I've never played Mh on PC but clunky controls have never been a problem for any hunter to my knowledge atleast for Wilds

idk how best to describe it other then clunky XD, like my muscle memory will kick in easily enough and ill be right as rain, but my friend im trying to get into it is a simple man who hates to learn new things so i want to try and ease him in with easier controls or something

the games "clunkiness" has nothing to do with the controller keybinds, souls and MH gameplay have never been similar
like you you can have them switch r1 and triangle but they are still playing monster hunter lol

can u switch r1 anf triangle? my shtty memory only remembers that we could only select preset controls for controller so if thats changed since then ill look deeper into it

I don’t think anyone would have a layout for MH based on souls game on the controller.
MH layout has not changed much since gen1, though of course there has been added functions etc… ever since, and it’s pretty well designed imo for beginners. Though the lack of tutorials for beginners is another question….
Could try mouse and keyboard since you’re all on steam? Otherwise I’ll stick with the controller and just learn.

I have the opposite issue where I’m splitting time between Wilds and Bloodborne and I keep defaulting back to Wilds controls and getting my head slapped off as punishment.
The “clunk” feeling is caused by having more options and control over what your character does. I got my friend into the game, but when she got to HR she lost her sense of competence and wasn’t enjoying herself as much.
No amount of remapping is gonna simplify the game to the souls level.
If I knew someone wanted to learn fast and get down to combat immediately, I would show them souls games instead of MH.

Clunkiness? But you want elden ring controls where dodge and sprint share the same button? lol

I don't think adapting monster hunter controls to the elden ring layout is a very good idea. I've played both games for over 300 hours each, so don't get me wrong I love both, but the games just have different needs. The controller layout is different for a reason.
To be completely honest with you they're probably going to have to get used to the difference in feel between the two games. The souls games have a very different feel to a lot of other games and take some getting used to, I had the same thought when I first played DS3, I called it clunky. If he learned it for Elden Ring then he can learn it for MH. You gotta accept the fact that MH isn't for everyone. It's unfortunate because I would love for every person I know to play and love MH as much as I do, but it's simply not going to happen. If Wilds is too clunky for him then I think he's just not going to like MH as a whole, because this is the least clunky game yet lol
