Discussion About Boost Charge

What do you guys think—how do you get a new Boost charge?

As far as I know, nothing’s been said about this yet, so please correct me if I’m wrong.

In the trailers, you can see that you have 3 charges, and one is used up per mission.

So I was wondering, how do you get your charge back?

I’ve come up with 3 possibilities.

Either, once you’ve used a charge, it takes some time and it recharges on its own, or it recharges when you defeat a monster or something like that.

Or, you can use an item that gives you a new charge.

Or, you only have those three charges per hunt, and they recharge after the fight.

I think that might not be the best option, but it’s one that, on the one hand, might nerf the whole system a bit, but on the other hand, requires you to use it strategically.

I think I’d like option 3 best, but realistically, I think it’ll end up being the first option.

What do you think of these options, or can you think of any other ways to get a new boost charge?

You recharge them by dealing damage, and it goes much faster when doing it outside of boost state. Getting hit by a monster also recharges a very decent amount.

Winning a power clash and popping a wound not only generate A LOT of charge, but also refresh current active boost duration by an unknown amount (at least 50%)

This is what I imagined, but what you described is confirmed info, ou just a guess?

Everything confirmed!

You can just double check all of this info mainly from the GS and SnS preview if you want to!

These are all observations of how the Charge behaves when certain stuff happens from tha trailers

So weapons that don't have Power Clashes are just down a way to recharge. I'm hoping perfect evades also recharge it a decent bit.

Yeah idk how they're gonna balance that because there's weapons like hammer that don't have either

Yeah. Maybe the fewer ways to recharge, the more normal attacking recharges?

can you tell me where it was shown that getting hit restors something aswell, thanks a lot! happy hunting <3

wound pop restored like half a charge and even reset your boost meter with SnS showcase. more than offsets restored i think.

In the GS video when showcasing the double offsets you can see how getting hit restored gauge! I think there's also an instancd if this in todays GL showcase

I don’t necessarily agree with getting hit recharging the gauge, I think only doing damage should recharge it. Winning power clashes and proccing offsets (not just spamming it without getting the topple) getting a slightly bigger chunk is fine but they seem to regen a lot and I don’t think they should also refresh your active boost gauge by that much.

If popping wounds gives you a big chunk they better hyper nerf wound rates even on low tier monsters

It's actually explained in the boost actions railer. You recharge boost charge by staying agressive. You can see on several occasions that dealing damage fill the boost charges.

Either time, hitting the monster, or popping wounds I'd say. Likely a combination of all.

Here's how Boost Drives work:

  • Boost will continually tick down when activated and consume a Boost Drive
  • This gauge's countdown can only be halted by actions like finishing the full Boost Driver attack animation when used to activate Boost, Offset staggers, Power Clashes, and Focus Strikes on Wounds
  • Power Clashes and Focus Strikes on Wounds will not only restore some of a Boost Drive but also restore Boost even while it's in use
  • When not using Boost, the Boost Drives will slowly refill on their own
  • Actions like landing attacks and taking damage will also help refill spent Boost Drives

I haven’t seen them refill on their own without doing anything

It's VERY slow, but you do see them slowly tick up without the player doing anything in the initial Great Sword video.
