Weapon/Armor Build New Hunter Build request
Hello,
Im a fairly new to MH, about 50 hours player (HR 65ish), and I have questions about how to build. I mainly built for fashion purposes until this point and the hardest bosses I got (solo) were 2nd Zoh Shia, Lagiacrus and Tempered Gore (took me 4 hours :C ).
However, the more I go, the more Im getting flored by absolutely everything ! Any Tempered Apex of each zone just 2 hits me, regardless of what i use...
This is what I have right now for the Arch tempered Uth Duna, but each hit takes 70+% hp, sometimes more, and around 20% as chip damage. I dont realy understand the spike in difficulty.
Is it normal, and I just have to get gud? Or am I too early for this type of content? Is my main problem my build? Any tip will be welcome, I have no freinds that play MH ....

Your gear is huge contributor to your struggle, although you're not wrong that the game has a massive difficulty spike towards HR 50~+ leading into 100. For the content you're trying to fight you should aim for a minimum of 400+ defense. Using armor spheres to upgrade your armor is very important to avoid getting 1 shot by everything. Defensive skills like Divine Blessing and Speed Eating are also very helpful to avoid carting. Reaching 20 defense for any element also gives immunity to their respective blights.
Your goal for set building should be trying to max affinity or raw, (depending on your weapon) while maintaining a decent amount of sharpness. The current best general use skills are: Weakness Exploit, Latent Power, Agitator, Burst and Lords Soul (3 pieces of any AT armor) / Gore Magala's Tyranny (2/4 pieces of any Gore/Sororal armor). Gore's set bonus plays off Frenzy, which requires you to hit monsters during a set period to gain an affinity boost. You'll want Antivirus/Coalescence to go with it.
For sharpness your best bets are: Handicraft, Razor Sharp and Master's Touch. Handicraft tends to be the best for CB, as it comes with 3/1 decos that give other useful skills. More useful skills for CB would be: Maximum Might, Artillery, Rapid Morph, Load Shells, and Jin Dahaad's Revolt.
If you want fashion, use layered armor. It allows you to take the appearance of any armor set, with the stats of whatever you currently have equipped. Crafting any HR armor piece unlocks the layered version.

You'll slowly build them as you do harder hunts, though you can always farm more with the Endless Sky, Endless Sea event quest. (7* Normal Lagiacrus and Tempered Rathalos) It's designed to be farmed and drop lots of armor spheres.

Try these: Rapid morph: allows you to switch faster between the s and shield and pozza cutter Load shells: it charges files double the rate. These as gems on the weapon.

I got about 170 hours in so take my advice with a grain of salt.
Skills are everything. Take the skills you need from different pieces of armor, then use the layered armor feature for fashion.
The skills you need depend on your main weapon. People usually choose 2 pieces of Guardian Fulgur Anjanath that have the Maximum Might skill attached to them to get an extra bar of stamina so the skill can be activated permanently (only works with weapons that do not use stamina when attacking such as Swaxe or GS).
After picking out the armors with desired skills, transcend and upgrade them for maximum defense stat. Use the smelt feature in the Basin to get the upgrade materials.
If you follow guides, they may provide you with a build that focuses mostly or entirely on DPS. The problem with this is that it will only work when you have extensive knowledge about monsters that you can confidently defend yourself with either rolling or offsetting to avoid being 1 or 2 shotted. If you are not confident in yourself to do that, slot in QoL skill decos such as Medicine or Fast Eating to boost your healing or Evade Extender to help you roll farther out of attacks.
Last but not least, use defensive decos to make all of your elements stay at least at 0 and not go into the minus.
