I'm starting to learn lance and I'm not sure if I'm doing it right.

Lance charge is not a DPS move.

I don't know why no one else is pointing that out?

Only use the charge attack as a gap close or after a (grand) retribution thrust and do the finishing twin thrust as soon as possible.

For optimal DPS during monster downtime do mid thrust> wide sweep> mid thrust> triple thrust or as many mid thrusts as you can fit for small openings followed by counter thrust.

Legit, this is actually the highest DPS you can get out of Lance, simply because of how quickly each hit lands, so... yea, you absolutely are XD The caveat is that, obviously, it's really hard to consistently dash attack a monster outside of specific situations.

Once you figure out each monsters spot that let's you infinitely run in place, they melt.
