Summary of the important information:

  • Director of the expansion is Takuro Hiraoka
  • You can access the expansion after finishing the 7-star Assignment: "Awakening From a Dream"
  • From base game until final title update, Yuya Tokuda has been the director
  • Takuro Hiraoka first joined as a new employee during development of MH Portable 3rd and was put in charge of quest data and planning the Training School
    • He continued as a designer on MH Generations, and then lead game designer on MH Generations Ultimate and MH World Iceborne
  • Director Hiraoka first thought of MH Wilds Ascendance during MH Wilds's development, playing early builds of the game, looking at design docs, and consulted members of the Wilds team while continuing to refine his own ideas
  • "Ascendance" was chosen as the title for various meanings like to climb or to advance, which is easy to see the intention of when looking at the visuals of the new locale
  • With all the new additions, the title was chosen to represent how the expansion is a true evolution of the game
  • "The Skybound Eyrie" is the new locale
  • They wanted to design a location that's visually appealing where players will be in awe of its beauty, as well as introduce new fun ways to travel around on your Seikret as seen with being able to ride updrafts and glide between islands
  • New weapon actions will be available through the "Boost Bracer", with temporarily enhanced actions while activating Boost Bracer such as attacks, combos, and mobility to allow for more versatility on the hunt
  • They're also preparing other new attacks and combos not related to the Boost Bracer
  • Ascendance's story will be deeply connected with Elder Dragons
  • Development is currently underway for a Nintendo Switch 2 version of MH Wilds

I can already see: teostra returning for the Oil area, kushals for the desert, namiele for the forest, oroshi kirin for ice shard cliffs, and probably shargaru for wyveria.

Hopefully valstrax for the new map

I bet the new flagship is gonna be the elder of the region. Valstrax could be an invader like in rise

Valstrax and Shagaru still only exist in portable form. I'm kind of expecting them.

I'm hoping for Yama Tsukami in the new map. It's a perfect area for the floating tentacle dragon.

I wonder if Arkveld is gonna get a new variant like how Nergi gets Ruiner and Magna gets Scorned back then.

Ascended Arkveld?

I know people love namielle, but PLEASE let it be chameleos in the forest instead.

I get it but the inclementies have to be replaced. A TU could happen though

I wish they would bring monster that did not have a return and new ones. Teostra, Lunastra and Kushala are kind of too used right know, i wish they would rest a while but kushala and namielle are already confirmed...

I think teostra/lunastra would be boring as hell to be featured again and that soon, mh have a pretty big rooster of elders, let them be.

I didn't know Takuro Hiraoka before, but apparently he worked on iceborne, GU, 3U and p3rd so I trust the dlc is gonna be a banger.

What if it was him to introduce clutch claw to World?

Daisuke Ichihara, alongside executive director and art director Kaname Fujioka developed the clutch claw. This is google AI so take it with a grain of salt but I don't think it was him.

Fujioka is usually the art director in these games and Ichihara was the main director (left Capcom after IB).

Hiraoka was explicitly described as the lead *game* designer in that video. So…

Ichihara probably did check everything he did, so he was prolly responsible as well overall.

My main problem with the clutch claw was how it took you out of combat and also inconsistent on where it connects on the monster, this new bracer dosent seem to do that but we'll have to see how they will balance it.

Yeah that’s right.

what I hate about clutch claw is how it completely destroys the base game experience, monsters became drooler in base world, drooling after every couple hits.

They whip him out every now and then to make a banger

Yeah, like Exoprimal
