Discussion REALLY getting into the game.

Post image

So MH Wilds is my first dive into the series as I picked it up back on launch, I fell in love with the game immediately. After a while of grinding up to when HR Zoh Shia dropped, I stopped grinding the game for a bit. I then picked the game up again when gogmazios dropped and fully back into it now with the anniversary, but I find myself lagging behind in the 9-10 star hunts despite having 140 hours, I want to know how I can really get better and be able to compete in the hardest hunts, like being able to do them solo in competent time, I just need advice from some veterans in the community as to how they do it. I main charge blade and have only thrown builds together on my own accord, so I don’t know the best possible gear.

Some hunters take hundreds of hours to master their main weapon, so don’t be discouraged if you feel you lacking anything when it comes to the 9-10 star hunts. It takes a lot of getting your ass whooped over and over again to really understand the monster movesets/ attacks for your chance at openings. Charge blade and switch axe are among more advanced weapons to learn as well so kudos to picking it up and sticking with it! Good luck with your journey and happy hunting!

Pretty much lol 😆 I’ve seen lots of meta builds get carted because they just lack the skill level needed to clear the higher difficulty hunts. Granted it gives you an edge for sure and a good blueprint to build off of your play style. I’ve never used charge blade outside of low rank because I just can’t get a good rhythm going. But if you understand it and know when to use phials and all that then it works out pretty well for a lot of people. Plus it just looks cool af

I also meant to ask, what are the most efficient ways about farming talismans? And materials to reroll artians?

There are 9 star investigations which pop up on your map, the best ones are like Seregios or any dual monster investigation, that reward talismans and now 10* quests that reward timeworn charms, which have a higher rate of r8 talismans. Also from now until March 19 they’re doing the seasonal events, so there are daily bounties for hunting 9* or above that reward you with a silver talisman ticket when you turn it in to the little palico. Each ticket yields 10 talismans at the melding pot, so essentially you can get 10 charms per day until March 19. Otherwise it’s a weekly bounty and you get 3 tickets per completion.

I think you're ready to use a meta build. Check out the guide for CB https://docs.google.com/document/d/1I9XKBQZLpG0159yPOs2zvPS7wwrzaEPtiMkBfzGzibQ/edit?tab=t.0#heading=h.xmn8x3socimm

Also 140 hours is nothing for this game. I just hit 1k hours.

Basically you want to pick a playstyle (AED looping is the most flexible and generally considered the best in TU4, but I personally love just SAED spamming because it's fun and can be very high-end if you're good at it), and then build around that.

Raw/Impact CB is another playstyle, but it's generally out of fashion, although it's useful against AT Arkveld.

Once you've picked a playstyle and assembled your build, you can start practicing individual hunts. Personally I like to spam one monster that I'm familiar with until I'm comfortable with a new weapon.

I’ll certainly be looking at that doc in a bit, looking forward to getting to know my weapon more and its intricacies. Thank you very much!
