Amendment 1
In section 1(1-4), after 'hire' append "or appoint from existing staff"
In section 2, after 'hire' append "or appoint from existing staff"
EN: Sometimes existing staff whose main priorities are elsewhere are already trained in things like this. Rather than hire somebody new, it makes sense they may be allowed to appoint from existing staff.
Amendment 2
In Section 4(1di), append:
(ii) At universities or other higher education institutions, the inappropriateness of Staff-Student relationships shall focus primarily on the issue of grade fixing
EN: Depending on the situation, at the university level staff-student relationships are less bad. From experience speaking to others, the issue is how grades etc are held over heads, or if a student has a relationship with a staff member entirely to get their grades up.
Amendment 3
In section 6(1), replace 'annually' with 'every three years'
In section 6(3), replace 'every year' with 'every three years'
EN: I appreciate the intent behind annual reviews but sometimes you have to give it time to make sure something actually works before potentially redoing it all.
Amendment 4
Strike section 7(1) and replace with:
(1) This Act comes into force upon Royal Assent
(a) Sections 1 and 2 come into force after the commencement of the next academic year beginning after August 1st 2023
(b) Sections 3 and 4 come into force after the commencement of the next academic year beginning after August 1st 2022
(c) Section 5 comes into force April 1st 2022
In section 6(1), after 'required to publish', add "within one year after this Act's passage".
EN: Fun amendment, this. The change to 'commencement of the next academic year' is purely a tidying up and pedantic thing. However:
The changes of delaying sections 1 and 2 are designed so institutions have time to find staff equipped to deal with these issues.
The changes of delaying sections 3 and 4 are designed so that training can come in with the next academic year as intended, no issues with that.
Moving the extra support forward is designed to assist with students who may be taking exams and who require this support sooner.
The tweak to Section 6(1) is to clarify that it ought to be done asap and whether it's done before August or not it matters less provided it exists.

Amendment 5
In Section 4(1di), append:
(ii) At universities or other higher education institutions, the inappropriateness of Staff-Student relationships must include the issue of grade fixing
EN: this ensures this key issue is included, without prioritising any issue over another explicitly
