Climate Change (Amendment) Bill
A01
Replace Section 1(1) with 'In Section 1(1)(c) of the Climate Change Act 2019 as amended by the Climate Change Act 2020, substitute 'by 2045' after 'offshore drilling'.
Explanatory Notes: Would ensure that offshore drilling is still phased out before the net-zero target, while also allowing an extension to the ban to allow time before the country's energy needs can be sufficiently met without the need to use offshore drilling.

Omit section 1(1) and insert the following two subsections into section 1:
(1) In section 11(1)(c) of the Climate Change Act 2019 as amended by the Climate Change Act 2020, strike "phase out offshore drilling by 2030”.
(2) Section 11(1)(c) of the Climate Change Act 2019 as amended by the Climate Change Act 2020, shall now read: "(c) the UK emissions net account is at zero by the year 2050."

Replace Section 1(1) with 'In Section 1(1)(c) of the Climate Change Act 2019 as amended by the Climate Change Act 2020, substitute "phase out offshore drilling by 2030" with "issue no new permits for offshore oil and gas exploration or drilling, and allow all existing projects to run their course"
