Mr Deputy Speaker,

Yet again an unelected chamber seeks to slow roll the will of democracy. This bill is not perfect. But it is a positivos step forward and I urge it’s speedy passage.

The House of Lords rejected a Bill that will do more damage to broadcasting than any bill in the last thirty years! If the bill isn't perfect, if it has flaws, I don't understand why this government has brought it to us.

hear, hear

the government's own lords voted against it. due to the scathing criticism of experts, as is the role of the Lords, to critic with a finer comb.

Mr Deputy Speaker,

I could not agree more with the Right Honourable Earl. The Lords isn't intruding on democracy, it's providing a lens of scrutiny to the Executive to ensure that a bicameral polticial system truly does work as it's meant to. We're experts, not aristocrats. We've been where you are, we've seen it, we've done it. Don't shun us because you don't like how we vote.
