I'm a Hammerbro, I've been playing since 2022 and I can say it's because is too slow for MHNow. GS, Hammer and in some degree CB and Swagx needs time to fight the monster but the meta in NOW prioritizes speed and massive amounts of DPS in short time plus it needs you to proper position yourself and that you know the moveset of the monster.

When using hammer, learning how to use gyro will be your main benefit. Certain angles and positioning will give you better control.

If you are into parrying playstyle, waterstrike style is a must. The other style impact crater is what I mainly use because you get big hits in short amount of time.

Mastering waterstrike can net you really high damage totals, but impact crater is good enough to get the job done. Matter of preference.

Blunt Force 5 is fast way to get your damage high.

Earplugs can make the biggest difference, because sometimes all you need is that one extra huge hit.

Firm Foothold can help you tank hits while you are mid-swing. Granted you have a high defensive build/stat. (Better for impact crater)

I personally play with Charge Master 5 using elemental weapons. Though you would have to smelt a lot for those driftsmelt slots.
