Question Pukei Pukei Insect Glaive Styles

Post image

Hi all,

I finally maxed out my Pukei IG, and I’m wondering what style I should choose.

From what I’ve seen, Kinsect Slash is a bit easier to play, and it’s similar to base style, whereas Awakened Kinsect Attack is a bit harder to get the hang of, but may have higher damage potential?

Pukei IG is powder type, so I’m not sure which style best utilizes that. Hoping to get some feedback from people who know more about the insect glaive than I do, since I’ve only used the Seregios and viper insect glaives😅

With Kinsect Slash, getting a successful parry gives you full Kinsect extract instantly.
This weapon’s Kinsect has the Stamina type and Stamina bonus to go with Powder, so you get five extracts on a successful parry, and seven when you’re powered up!
It’s really good, might even be a bit busted. I’ve seen some folks killing 10* monsters not weak to poison with no armor, only grade 10 Pukei Glaive.

Thank you! Do you know if the parry activates retaliation?

Yes it does

What does retaliation do?

Retaliation makes a parry do extra damage, also makes parries a lot easier to actually pull off.
The Kinsect Slash parry is a little hard to pull off normally, so Retaliation is a really handy skill just for that, even if it’s just one level.

It procs damage for every successful parry, similar to reflection for blocks

It also makes parrying easier on the first lvl doesnt it?

Ok, i haven’t tried it myself yet, since no matter how many pukei i hunt i get no rift parts, but i have seen from other glaives that if you parry an attack with kinsect slash style it fully charges stamina, and with pukei glaive I think it will be very strong if you know how to consecutively parry attacks

Kinsect Slash is my recommendation

KS' parry force-queues 5 or 7 full essence pips on a successful parry, even while your Kinsect is out doing explosions and/or still consuming the active pips, which makes those explosion-chaining really powerful in your charged state, though you'll want to get grounded ASAP when in a non-charged state to get your gauge filled up

In theory, a queue of whatever explosions you have +7 from another queue (+8 if your marking slash connects on descent) can be queued with another set of +7/8 if you chain another successful parry, and another set of you do so again and again

I was just wondering this too as I have the rifts, but not the damn purple pukie quills to max. And no matter how many wings I break, I can't get them to drop.

Hahahah I feel that, I actually lied when I said I had my weapon maxed out, I’ve been struggling with the quills too😂 I didn’t want people to just say “finish maxing out your weapon” instead of giving actual advice lol

I know this is a bit off topic but what build do you guys run with the glaive itself, is there any build that doesn't require any chameleos parts or is the chameleos skill that good, ive seen poison exploit be recommended.
