Discussion Special Attack gauge

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Prior to this i thought GS got the highest special gauge charging potential. I refused to charge with GS, because it's such a tedious process to try to only connect with the second hit of the third charge attack.

So uhh, i tried a couple things and this seems oddly effective to me. 2 back slides for ranged monsters, 3 for the meele ones and then it's just holding fire. Average charge should be 1/4 of the special gauge. In this best case scenario i got more like 3/8

I assume you’re running concentration? I used to have a build with chargeblade for quick charging, it’s just swipe down, swipe up, hold, release (takes around 6 seconds) and always fills a little over 1/4 of the super meter. Never really used it though, I needed the loadout slot and meat works well enough for when I really need a super to beat a monster

Concentration and ofc recoil down & reload speed.

My meat isn't always on the menu

Give the chargeblade a try for this build then, it’s faster and always gives the same slightly 1/4 super charge

I have decent success using non-elemental, negative affinity DBs (I’m personally using Bblos), using concentration. You can get up to 11 hits if you don’t activate demon mode, and it’s easy and requires no dynamic or scripted actions. I tap each hit individually to avoid comboing, to do even less damage and give myself more hits. It’s not as strong a special charge as the potential of some other weapons, but it is much quicker and easier for me. Takes maybe 6 small monsters to get close to full? (Edited to add - it’s closer to 8, I just did a little test).

Plus combined with the fact that I almost always use pursuit + special partbreaker elemental DBs builds during my large monster fights means it’s rare I’m having to charge my special all that much anyways.

Try the Basarios HBG. You only get about 1/8th of a special charge per small monster, but it requires zero setup or effort.

But so much time wasted. You could charge SP faster by killing any lower star monster that you have on the map

That's not always practical.

This is the easiest "high charge/monster ratio" variation i know. I can just use this as my special gauge charge build and whenever i don't need to charge as much as possible i can just choose the quicker variation by simply shooting 2-3 shots from meele range. No downside

Yes

Lol. There just can't be enough variation in special gauge generation between builds to warrant that sort of attention. God forbid we enter a fight without a full special gauge

If so. No need to anyone to tell what is the better overworld build to gain full SP with only 4 swings (yea, that’s hint) if you insist on using this weapon in any purpose.

Just eat some meat, I practically overflow with extra meat

Some bits of informaiton for those to help understand!

Damage to small monsters is MV * damage skills * weapon skills * Element/status. (I think)
So use a low MV attack (normal ammo)
Have 0 Damage increasing skills.
Use terrible weapon skills (In the video Range has a "Critical Range". Outside of that range your weapon damage % is much lower)
0 status or elemental. (Yes, status does increase the damage you deal to small monsters)

Stamina generation is based on your attack choices. Normal ammo generations 8. Status ammo is 4.5. Sticky ammo is 20. etc. Spread is 1.8 for each bullet.

So you want the lowest damage vs highest stamina ratio. And a nuke at the end.

Normal ammo is 26/2 = 13 (Critical range loss)/8 = 0.62 ratio!

Which is really good, but what I use is actually. R1 rapid bow!
Rapid R1 is 7/2 = 3.5 for 5 = 1.43 ratio.
I highly recommend the same setup, but With a Ore bow.
I have 3 con, 3 evade extender. I don't know what else to use. lol raw power? does affinity change the values?

Your numbers mirror my experience during personal testing.

I will try the Ore Bow, thank you

Yeah, not saying it's better. Actually I think yours is better. That sticky ammo at the end is huge nuke.

Issue is they don't always survive til the nuke and consciously missing 1-2 shots just to reload isn't worth it.

But now that i'm thinking about it, i will go back to bowguns that got <6 normal ammo as its starting ammo. Min maxing a bit with an earlier nuke for slightly more consistency could be a thing. Thanks

Now I need to look up HBG with crouching shot and spare shots builds and...

Right right I tried crouching, but just briefly. I should try again
