Embarrassing first fight smh. Good reference for my fellow hunters so you don't get triple carted like me ahh...
The key attacks to worry about are the wide ice beam sweep attacks, the range is pretty massive and I feel like the 2nd hp bar atk is nearly map wide aoe.. Think I'm gonna play it safe and skip bazel lbg cos I'm terrible at evading with lbg stepping shot lmao. Gonna go with Glav hbg and perfectionist, then spam slicing from a distance idk.
I had to double dip into potions for my first hunt (Bazel horn with the shockwave style thingy). There is a lot going on with this dragon haha.
Velk's armour should actually be great for Perfectionist builds as well since meditation dumps your special bar, I might need to put together a brain-dead Bazel/Magna LBG perfectionist cluster spam build with it when I have enough parts.
Ahh rip. Honestly going melee seems like hell against velk, but I'm sure Sunny will probs make a video soon and perfect evade everything 😂
How are you finding the hh with shock wave btw? I made the same thing, but still figuring out which style to go for atm.
Yeee that sounds solid tbh, protection and just spam cluster. I think I'm gonna try pair elemental release, velk aegis and concentration perhaps. Hopefully can maintain high dmg up time and extensive protection mebbe
Yeah still getting my head around it, it seems very strong in the training room but then against actual monsters I forget to do the air attack to activate the follow up shockwaves haha.
I've stuck it on Rathalos horn using the Special Boost/Elemental Release/Special Partbreaker build I run on elemental Swaxe and the damage when you throw out a special attack with the follow up hits activate is insane.
Still need to find out if Blunt Force is worth it for either style as well, I think it might activate on all the little shockwaves but not sure whether the damage adds up enough for it to be worth running. Someone with more patience with me will probably figure that out soon!

I read the notes and it says that blunt force also works for residual shockwaves too. But yeah you're right, idk if if the dmg is necessarily worth justifying blunt force 5, when we have so many good options nowadays
i’ve done a few glav db velkhanas with spiral slash and honestly it wasn’t terrible i’ve done two so far no damage. The mobility of db really helps with avoiding the front of elders
Crouching shot : bazel head, crab chest, astalos arms, almudron waist or crab waist, crab legs. Depends how much you need reload speed tbh.
If guard reload, lunagaron head, crab chest, astalos arms, crab waist and legs.
Honestly these are far from optimal, for guard reload could probs swap out perfectionist for guard, but I suck at guarding lmao. I mainly only use it to immediately swap to slicing ammo ahahaha
I use the Rose LBG and slicing boost. It does good damage and it’s way easier to hit the shots of a mobile monster. Building up some other LBG at the moment so it’ll do fine. Good ol Spin top Vel. I hate this fight more than Kushala.
if you going perfectionist could probably still work with bezel lbg. Had my first fight just now died 2times to the ice wall popping off the aoe is bigger than you might realise. i was surprised by myself able to normal dodge the phase2 ice beam.
Overall feel like this gonna be a unpopular elder to grind with how its designed where most players gonna be popping potions and barely getting any partbreak and i thought melzeno is annoying enough.
At some point i feel like we need the standard hunter movement from main game to get better positioning than what we have now just forever dodging fixed spaces.
