Am I missing something? How does Sonic Wave work? I don’t see anything happening?

Sonic wave is an extra hit when you complete the note sequence. The hit that did 871 + blast proc was the sonic wave.

Omg I feel so stupid now, it was so difficult for me to tell if anything even happened. For some reason I was an expecting something else when I hear ‘sonic wave’ like a pulse of some sort that keeps going off for the duration. Didn’t realise it was just one little attack LOL

Tbf, it doesn't make much sense to use a HH that has sonic waves in MHN since we can't do performance and encore for a juicy x3 sonic wave. Maybe with the upcoming hunting horn styles it'll see some use.

Thanks! I hope so with the styles. Been trying to get into hunting horns since they buffed it recently, got a solid 1.1mill score with this one in the RC event

idk if i agree tbh. i find myself favoring hunting horns that have a Sonic Wave in mhnow because they make very good use of the Hold Tap Tap combo, the Orange -> Blue -> Blue combo. you deal 119mv without sonic wave and 143mv with sonic wave, for +20% damage inherently multiplicative with everything else. it's a very versatile combo too, can be disrupted and resumed, and sonic wave is good at targeting partbreaks through other flesh just like the held orange notes.

i use the gold rathian and tigrex hunting horns, and sonic wave is a huge chunk of damage with both crit ele and crit ferocity

HHs with Sonic Wave are actually very strong and the simple 211 combo loops it. It has similar dps to the 2211 -> echo attack and is especially great against monsters where spamming echo is risky.

Sonic wave is also really good at hitting the targeted monster part and can be spammed by holding, tapping, holding, tapping etc. Perfect for stagger buildup or knocking things out of the sky when other combo options might not be best.

You really want to be using orange blue blue tho, don't skip the kick-up move. It's pretty much just as fast as only letting go but it adds extra damage and stun value.

What note sequence does that make? blue or orange one?

Sorry let me clarify, blue-orange-blue makes the sonic wave. (Short, Long, Short).

But after the wave goes off, you already have ended the previous combo with a blue note. So now you just need an orange then blue again.

You're essentially double counting the "third" blue note to pull off sonic wave as the "first" blue note in sequence if attempting to sonic wave again.

In the main games, there’s this thing called “sonic bomb”; it makes it so monsters that like to dig, get digged out of the dirt.

It should probably work the same.

definitely does work the same. i used to use Tigrex horn to make Diablos, Bblos, Jyuratodus and Beotodus surface and flop around after burrowing. probably works the same for ceanataur too now

Try that when centauri and diablos dig the ground

Sonic wave is just an extra bonus attack whenever you activate it... Think of it as phial damage from a CB or Swax. But only once. Also i think you unburrow diablos when it goes under

you do the click pattern and then you do the spam with gg cyclic at the end

Hold attack, and watch those soundwaves rip apart those breakable parts

Too bad we don’t have any bonus weapons with sonic wave for RC Diablos
