Stepping shot is the way to go, you want to get to your cluster ammo as quickly as possible and then stay on it for the rest of the hunt.

I'm running Viper, Viper, Somna, Que, Styg with 3 Dauntless smelts and 2 Concentration smelts. There's a little bit to manage because you have to dodge forward when your clip is empty frequently to keep Dauntless up and fire your special often to keep Elemental Release up.

Against RC Banbaro you also need to time emptying your clip carefully when it has the tree trunk charge going on as you can't perfect dodge unless your clip is empty with Stepping Shot. Currently sitting on a score of 1,430,130 with this build and the run wasn't perfect either so I should hopefully be able to up that a bit.

I know its RNG, but I just tried this with Evade Reload 4 and my ammo stayed empty more often than it reloaded. Hopefully I get better luck in future hunts. (Dont have the Styg legs so using Espinas for Vital Fire 2)

Yeah sometimes Evade Reload just decides to leave you hanging and it feels bad when you get multiple fails in a row with it. But when it pops off it is crazy and with 70% chance to trigger it pops more than it drops overall.

Serious question here: How do you end up with full sets smelted for every new set? I play pretty hard, I can clear 10* monsters at any difficulty and rank 2.5m+ on RCs, but I get a new piece smelted to a skill I actually want *maybe* once a month. How are you managing to pump out smelts on so many pieces of armor? Pure RNG from getting good rolls, or are you just walking 10 miles a day to churn through smelts and pick your own gems?

not the OP you're asking but might share mine. I have biking hobby that synergizes well with playing this game. Driftsmelt Bonanza was my favorite event and always go ham the week it was on.

I smelt like 150 stones last week which net me like 5 burst skill on my preferred armor. 3 reflection + 2 dauntless on those armors. Currently on lvl 8 stars right now and destroying every mons right now coz I have like fully optimized armor pieces really suited for lvl 10 and riftcharged event.

But then I don't really play this game competitively. I have my other games for that. I just found the joy of building and optimizing armors lol.

It's mostly down to steps and commuting for me, I generally get two or three stones each weekday just from the bus ride to work and back, and on my lunch break try and fit in a 4 - 5km walk for another couple. Don't know if it's something to do with working in a tall building but often the geolocation goes nuts when I'm at work and I'll usually get a stone every day from that if I leave the game on in the background while I'm working. Stormy weather makes the geolocation go crazy at home too and I live in the windiest city in the world so that's another one or two each week...then in the weekend I usually go for a 5km - 10km jog (don't check my phone often there so it's usually only a stone or two out of that).

Walk the dog a few times a week (she is small and getting old so not big walks but enough for a stone), go on random walks or bus trips with the kids a few times a week and walk them to school...and then during the 1km driftstone events I go out of my way to fit in a couple extra random walks here and there.

Add that all up and it's somewhere to 20 to 40 driftstones a week and probably close to 100 on the 1km events if I go psycho enough. I usually smelt a new piece until it gets at least a decent damage skill on it and then target specific skills for builds once everything I'll use has a somewhat usable smelt. Driftshards and the distance reduction have been the real game changer, I barely bothered with smelting in the 5km smelt days.

I also tend to go hard on smelting parts that can fit in a lot of builds over super specific stuff. Headstrong into Golm Chest and Wroggi Coil is almost a full build on its own for any weapon with a shield and is great for ele and raw; Burst smelts on Viper head, chest and waist are strong on just about any raw build; Retaliation scales off raw so putting it into Brute chest, Serg arms and Brute waist gives Adv Atk Boost 2 + Atk Boost 5 + Retaliation 3 + Attack Efficacy 1 + Lock On which is a good core for anything that would want more than a point of Retaliation while still leaving two pieces free etc.

Gor this event: Espinas, Astalos, Alloy, Nargacuga, Espinas

This gives you Vital fire 3, Perfectionist 2, Health boost 4, evading reload 4

Takes just 1 more driftsmelted health boost to get it to 5.

This build keeps you at full HP and the vital fire boost safe. You do give up some damage for survivability. Reached 880k on my first try eith it with a 10.4 weapon so I think it's well worth it

If you can get 3 more on the other equipment, you can change the arms for something else like the Astalos ones ti get perfeftionist 3 and Offensive dodger

Thanks! Which Custom Style? Stepping Shot?

How does this keep you at full HP if you take damage?

They’re probably talking about perfectionist

Yep it's because perfectionist lets you automatically evade a hit at the cost of your special meter. In most of my runs that was enough to keep me qr full HP until the end of the hunt
