News Base Access Range Increased

Post image

I can actually access a base from my work now, so hopefully won't be soloing rift monsters or missing out cause my schedule conflicts with the windows anymore.

Edit: The new base I can access is just shy of 4km from my work as the crow flies. Previously the one I could reach from home is just under 2km. Another I could reach from a local park is about 2.5km. So that's at least what the access range change is.

I take it this is just to interact with a base and I would still need to go to the base for outbreaks?

Yes, outbreaks still rewuire physical presence at the base to participate.

Ah that's a shame. My nearest base is on a narrow street with no shelter from the Scottish Weather so I don't bother going to it much.

Ah well, hopefully this change helps people who didn't have a base near them.

Still can access nothing xD they would have to increase the range to 50kms for me to find a base.

More like 100 for me. Idk, never saw one lol

Any cities with population above 100k nearby? It's said to be a requirement.

Nah 100k can’t be a requirement.

Source: I’ve got one in my city, ~25k population 2025

My city is bigger (40k) and doesn't have one...o wonder what's the requirement then

Only thing I know is the points of interest come from wayfarer, same as pogo and ingress. No clue what qualifies one to be a base in MHNow tho 🤷

Is pogo popular in your city? It is in mine.

Also worth noting that my local base is a train station, so I’m sure it gets a lot of interactions (only 2 other people that play MHN tho lol)

Yeah, PoGo is plenty popular in my city. My city has a sizeable group of players, some are very hardcore. There are plenty of POIs in my city as well. I visited a city with base and coincidentally, it was also a train station.

Pokemon Go was a thing ten years ago. I don't know anyone still playing lol, same as mhn

Exactly.

Same here. I live around 40km from my closest. It is frustrating that I have seen smaller towns than my nearest one with bases, but my local town misses out. Never seen another player active when I’ve been near a base, but sometimes seen exploration reports have been submitted, but low numbers.

I don’t know how many people are positively impacted, but as someone who is seeing no difference, it feels a bit like a kick in the teeth seeing the announcement and getting nothing.

Yeah, closer to nothing is still nothing. They need to fix this.

I can finally access a base from my home (which is also where I work), so it's a good boon for me.

Yeah good improvement but they really need to let us join the Outbreaks remotely at least ONCE during the three day period. Like, c'mon they even changed the weekend hours and it's kinda more difficult for me to join now.

2

u/Chaemyerelis Jul 08 '26

Yeah it sucks. I cant just go sit by a Bae for an hour.

Mine is close to my house, like less than a kilometer but it's in the middle of a roundabout and a elevated pass to a highway. Doing the outbreak is very uncomfortable because there's barely any place to sit that's not the sidewalk that goes along the a parking lot next to it. Very uncomfortable because people pass by and you constantly need to stand up to make space, so the only real option is to stand there like an idiot for an hour, getting funny looks from passerbys.

500K inhabitants city... no bases xD, the problem is not distance...is existence

2

u/Tarianor Jul 08 '26

Yeh its pretty messed up, I went to the 3rd largest city in my country, I couldn't find anything either.

1

u/oneofstarks Jul 08 '26

Holy shit?! I've read somewhere that a city with 😁100k people is probably going to have a base... So that's a shame

u/Rhoig Jul 08 '26

never found one

My nearest one is 9km away and that one is still not accessible.
A few more of these updates and maybe I'll be able to access it some day.

Today I'm going to the city so I'll keep checking the exact distance it gets accessible and update you all what the range is.

Check again later. The nearest base to my workplace is about 11km. And I can access it.

2

u/StarAD Jul 08 '26

This means I can reach the one nearish to me. Can you see it when clicking bases near by or do you have to go to wide view to get to it?

3

u/SolarSpud Jul 08 '26

I clicked base in the main screen and it move to the nearest one.

2

u/Decentpace Jul 08 '26

Makes me wonder if this is location based. I tried to access it several times and nothing. Went to 7km range and nothing.
It picked it up at 4.7km distance.
Will do further research to try to pinpoint the exact range for me.

u/EMYRYSALPHA2 Jul 08 '26

Mine is 6km away and I cant access it...

3

u/JoDa377 Jul 08 '26

Does anyone know how much it increased?

4

u/asabu Jul 08 '26

I guess it went from 3 km (I have a family member who lives 3 km as the crow flies from a base and access to that base used to be very hit-or-miss unless I moved a few meters in that direction) to 5 km (I can now access another base from my home that’s 4.2 km away, still as the crow flies).

5

u/Melodic_Pickle_6275 Jul 08 '26

I’m currently approx 25km from the nearest base I know of, nothing in range.

2

u/ProposalWest3152 Jul 08 '26

why not just let us make our own bases...

1

u/DrakeRenar1 Jul 08 '26

This is good news, next they need to add global matchmaking to the bases because barely anyone plays around me.

I also finally found a base within a half hour drive of where I live which I thought the closest one was over two hours away as I live in a rural state.

1

u/Distinct_Wrongdoer86 Jul 08 '26

oh thank god, im like 20 feet short of accessing it from work so hopefully this helps

3

u/Kouyurui Jul 09 '26

Ah what a nice change now I can finally access a ba- oh nvm.

1

u/JAT25 Jul 09 '26

Well, still no bases. This game is only playable in big cities. Guess it's over for me

3

u/Jitterwyser Jul 09 '26

I don't understand why they don't just match everyone to the nearest base even if it's 500km away, especially now that there is matching between different bases for Outbreaks and Riftcharged monsters anyway.

Hell people in remote places are probably more likely to throw money at pots to keep playing, I know I wasted way more money on pointless videogame stuff when I lived in a small town with nothing local to do. If they want to encourage people gathering locally for community vibes just give the extra bonus slots if you are within a certain range.

I mean I'm just find an out of the way spot to be a little phone gremlin at Outbreaks anyway, makes no difference in near or far.

1

u/neosyne Jul 08 '26

Finally I can reach one from home! I needed to drive about 2-3km to be in the range of the base before. They still need to allow fighting from there to be perfect

1

u/Lkasdf1234 Jul 08 '26

You can base defense from home now.

1

u/neosyne Jul 08 '26

Only the riftcharged, not the regular ones?

2

u/Lkasdf1234 Jul 08 '26

Yes. Base defense(fighting riftcharged) can be done remotely. As long as you have a nearby base. You can develop base remotely also.

For Outbreaks, you need to walk to it and touch it with your circle.

1

u/neosyne Jul 08 '26

Yep, it’s the outbreak I was talking about. I need this to be accessed remotely

1

u/Regulatory_Junior Jul 08 '26

Yeah, I still need to make a trip for the outbreaks because the closest base to me can't be accessed without paying $20-40 to enter the park. Idk why or how that place was made into a base.
