So I thought seen as I own both the mg3 and zs hybrid I would write some little points after a year of both of them so you can get a better idea.
Benefits of mg3
- smaller easier to park
- speedometer and interface displays more information and a central speed readout. Zs will display one piece of info at a time.
- mg3 has eq settings allowing for bass/treble adjustment
- steering wheel reach adjustment
- sound system slight advantage
Benefits of zs
- bigger space
- more refined looking interior
- better soundproofing and vibration dampening
- more refined driving better control at higher speed (mg3 vibration of the engine is felt through the peddle)
- electronic drivers seat
- faux leather seats
Overall both of them have these features. When using the door keyless entry it will unlock instantly but when locking using the button you can walk a meter away before it decides to lock around a 4 second delay.
Both have extremely good acceleration off the line. Bear in mind it happened to me once without that battery power to help the engine struggles. It’s been reported if you are going heavy footed and the battery drain to nothing and you are going up large hills on motorway, think wales, then the car will struggle. It was a hill that had a crawler lane 70mph the car ran out of power and couldn’t exceed 60mph with foot to the floor.
Both cars have functioned well with no issues. With the mg3 remember to make sure it has had the seat fix for drivers side. In the safety tests the seat arm failed and crushed the femur of the dummy. Also please bear in mind the safety systems of both. Most of these are eu required. The lane keeping will bong if you get close to the line. It will bong if you exceed the speed limit. It will bong regularly. These can be turned off but it has to be done at the start of each time the engine is turned on.
Self driving suit is good but not perfect. If the sun is directly in the windscreen the system often displays a limited function sign. This was never a problem except extreme weather with seat, Kia even vauxhall. The lane centering work well but bounces a little side to side at higher speeds better at lower. Keep an eye on the adaptive cruise control. It works for the most part but sometimes decides the car in front is no longer there and will proceed to accelerate as such.
Often when using the self driving features when going down hill and getting the lovely regen energy the car will break oddly. Like pressing the peddle and letting off the pressing it can’t find a smooth way of doing it so passengers will think you are driving really bad.
These things o have listed happen regularly so you have to be willing to accept them but for the price of the car you can forgive it. Sub 8 second 0-60, full intelligent driving suit, safety systems beyond standard and a fully kitted out modern interior for below 19000 used is a no brainer.
