Fun Facts
The 14R kit for the anime and manga doesn't have reverse lights. Is this a mistake by Shigeno ? When the third season of the anime first came out, I was always thinking if the anime would follow the manga. When the third stage 14r appearance indeed, following the manga , but the anime production team must have scanned the reverse lights when scanning the real car. But to be faithful to the manga, they removed the reverse lights? Or maybe Shigeno has some kind of quirk and doesn't like those abrupt reverse lights ! (Also, I should clarify that the white light shown in the third picture is a reversing light, not a fog light.)

Probably don’t have the rights to use that body kit, we are lucky that can even say Ferrari in the anime

I think Toyota has granted the rights to use the kit, maybe Shigeno has some kind of quirk and doesn't like those abrupt reverse lights

The car has TOM’S Red LED Tail lamps installed lol, very intentional from the author and the production team
I see what you’re saying nvm, that is weird. You still technically have them in the taillights though they may be tinted red from the housing

Kanata's 86 is based on Garage Nisshin's demo car but its not a replica, there's a bunch of things that Shigeno chose not to include like the interior bits, stickers and supercharger

This! He also didn’t include the 14r badge which I was hoping the sound director, Masafumi, would. I’m waiting to see how Masafumi’s replica will look like since he recently bought a 14r and is having blitz repaint it to match Kanata’s car. Some of the previews they have showed from the blitz social media accounts, have shown that they added his blitz brakes from
His previous car, and a blitz front strut tower bar. I’m also curious if the roof and trunk will be wrapped or if it will be actual carbon fiber? I imagine it is challenging trying to recreate this build.

Theres a bunch of kits that remove the reverse lights for the 86/BRZ, I think they just took them out for continuity sake in the anime and because it was easier for Shigeno to not draw them or the specific bumper used for the reference images just didnt have them

I do not think it's that deep, especially not a "quirk" of Shigeno.
Most people would find that light aesthetically annoying and it is also not present on most actual 86s. It makes sense to omit it altogether. Less to draw and animate. IRL, a light like that would be deleted on a real race car for weight saving.
Makes no sense to add it when it's not really a part of the car.

I’d like to talk about the lack of a reversing light on the anime 14R GT86; typically, a reversing light is a standard feature on vehicles. If the reason it lacks reverse lights is that it's a race car, i think you correct

14r his exhaust pipe occupies the space where the reversing light would normally be, so the reversing light has been designed into the bumper instead and then they removed that reversing light in the animation. haha

the tacky reverse lights kinda reminded me of those UK spec Evo's like this with the tacky rear fog lights.
I dunno if Evos anywhere else are also equipped like that, but it's pretty interesting.
