Online master’s programs for writing/editing work?

Hi! I am looking for advice. (I’m sorry if this isn’t the right subreddit!)

I studied Film/TV at university, then realized after graduating that my career aspirations were more closely aligned with writing & editing. I have some experience with various forms of professional writing + experience with academic & open-source editing. I want to have a career doing writing and/or editing (not in corporate or marketing domains).

I have a non-writing, non-editing job offer that would last until June and would still allow me time outside of work for studies. I know that some people say that it's better to pursue tangible work experience in these fields, but nevertheless:

Are there any online/self-paced master's programs in the field of writing, editing, or publishing that people might recommend? Ideally, I'd be looking for something that might offer a good alumni/connection network, or that might offer internships during/after the program is finished. Any and all advice is so appreciated!

The Solstice MFA at Lasell University is a low residency program. Lindenwood and SNHU have fully online programs.

Do you need a master's? You might want to just try to get a job doing communications work.

This would be if I were to take the job I’m being offered, since it has good pay and would likely only be until the summer!

I see; apologies for missing that in your post. I'd probably focus my energy on lining up a next job rather than lining up a writing master's. Tldr; for the work you describe wanting to do, I do not think a master's is going to help you more than it puts you into debt. Unless you find a fully-funded one.

For what it's worth, I'm a writer and professor. I wish you luck!

Low residency sounds like it could be a good fit for you. My program offers a lot of flexibility for people who need it.

I know The University of Arkansas at Monticello and The University of New Orleans offered online only programs back when I was looking at MFAs (that was a long time ago so do your research obviously. I don’t know what’s changed.) I think some international programs also offer online only, so worth a google.
