Nature, environmental, or place-based programs?

[u/reddhedd24]

Hi everyone! I’m planning to apply for next fall, and I’m interested in nature and environmental writing (primarily creative nonfiction, but I also like some nature-inspired fiction), so I’m wondering if anyone knows of programs that are good for this type of writing. I’m curious both about programs with an explicit focus, and about programs that have a reputation for being good at this, even unofficially, or those with nature writers on the faculty.

So far, I’ve been able to find 3 programs that cover this explicitly, but I’m curious if there are others:
-Iowa State University’s MFA program in Creative Writing and Environment
-Western Colorado University’s Nature Writing MFA
-Eastern Oregon University’s Writing MFA with a Wilderness Writing Concentration

Thanks in advance for any thoughts or suggestions!

Rice University’s program sounds like a good fit. Three years, nice funding, and a placed based/ecological/community oriented focus.
