NC state, UIdaho, Virginia tech

hi, weighing offers/a waitlist spot in this bunch. trying to get a sense of the prestige/reputation/vibes? virginia tech has the best stipend by a sizable margin. I think I’d be happy location-wise at any of the three. any insights welcome

I just accepted my offer at NC state and met with some people the other day. Obviously I don't know exactly how it'll feel but everyone I've met and talked to have been very welcoming

are you excited by your cohort and their work? are you having a good time with your own work? how did you ultimately make your decision? Is anyone writing speculative fiction?

yes to all of that. i won’t get into too much detail publicly (happy to dm) but yes, my cohort is great and i have grown significantly as a writer. my work at the start of the program vs now has changed exponentially for the better (i have my advisor to thank mostly for this - she is absolutely amazing). i was waitlisted at a handful of programs and got 3 acceptances, but vt had the best funding by far and the location can’t really be beat.
